TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-handed Luis Frias off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.The Blue Jays announced the acquisition Saturday and option Frias to their Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo.
Frias had a 9.95 earned-runs average in seven games with the Diamondbacks this season
The six-foot-three, 245-pound pitcher has a 6.55 ERA over 54 career games in the Major League.

Montreal was drenched in a record amount of rain Friday as a storm system continued to pass through Eastern Canada.

CAIRO (AP) — Palestinian health authorities say an Israeli airstrike hit a school-turned-shelter Saturday in Gaza City, killing more than 60 people.

LANGLEY, B.C. — Police in Langley, B.C., say one of their officers has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

IQALUIT — A worker has died after being attacked by two polar bears off the eastern coast of Baffin Island in Nunavut.
