TORONTO — Brian Ramsay is stepping down as executive director of the CFL Players’ Association, the union announced Thursday.
The CFLPA said Ramsay “is pursuing a new opportunity,” and will leave the organization at the end of September. There was no indication given regarding what’s next for Ramsay.

OTTAWA — A new fight is playing out at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission over the first $100-million annual payment Google agreed to pay Canadian news outlets.The group tasked by Google to distribute the money to news outlets has submitted plans for its governance structure to the CRTC.

OTTAWA — The parliamentary budget officer says a proposed law to prohibit keeping elephants and great apes in captivity could cost up to $8 million to administer over the first five years.
