Five-time Olympic medallist Marc Gagnon has been named the head coach of Canada’s short-track program, Speed Skating Canada announced Monday.
Former head coach Sebastien Cros will remain with the program in the new role of assistant head coach.
Gagnon had worked as an assistant coach at Speed Skating Canada under Cros since 2021.

WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a soccer complex that left a 22-year-old man dead.
Police say they were called to the scene late Saturday night and found a man with gunshot wounds.

The victim has been identified as Mohamed Yusuf Abdullahi, of Winnipeg, and police say they do not believe the shooting was random.

MONTREAL — Quebec RCMP say they seized 62.7 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the walls of a grand piano during searches in the Lanaudière region and the Sherbrooke, Que., area.
They arrested four people on July 12 allegedly involved in a conspiracy to import and traffic the drugs, following a tip from Homeland Security Investigations, a United States law enforcement agency.
