WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan on a two-year contract, the NHL club announced Tuesday.
The deal, with an average annual value of US$775,000 at the NHL level, is a two-way contract in 2024-25 and a one-way contract in 2025-26.
Anderson-Dolan had four points (one goal, three assists) and six penalty minutes in 31 games with the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings last season.

YELLOWKNIFE — A helicopter pilot has died while fighting a wildfire in the Northwest Territories.
Transportation Safety Board officials had said an aircraft operated by Great Slave Helicopters crashed Friday at the Fort Good Hope airport.
The company says Tom Frith died while battling a blaze near the community, roughly 800 kilometres northwest of Yellowknife.
Great Slave Helicopters expressed condolences to Frith’s family and friends in Yellowknife and Australia.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s summer campaign circuit will not include a stop at the Calgary Stampede.
The annual 10-day rodeo and festival is usually a must-do event for politicians and Trudeau hasn’t missed a summer except for the COVID-19 years of 2020 and 2021.

Manitoba murder conviction deemed likely a miscarriage of justice by federal minister
WINNIPEG — A Manitoba man convicted of murder 50 years ago is getting another court date and a chance to clear his name.
Clarence Woodhouse was found guilty in 1974 of fatally beating and stabbing a restaurant worker in downtown Winnipeg.
Woodhouse was granted parole in 1983 and filed last year for a ministerial review of his conviction.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Police in Prince George, B.C., say a 16-year old girl who was taken to hospital last week after a drug overdose has died.
Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is investigating and says the girl appears to have been targeted by a fentanyl trafficker.
RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says the girl died over the weekend and the investigation into her overdose and death is a top priority for the unit.

Canada cancels training session after winger Tajon Buchanan suffers leg injury
ARLINGTON — Winger Tajon Buchanan was injured in practice Tuesday ahead of Canada’s upcoming Copa America quarterfinal against Venezuela.
Canada Soccer said the Inter Milan attacker sustained an injury to his lower leg.
