OTTAWA — Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says Ottawa has to take action against Saskatchewan for breaking the federal carbon-pricing law.
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said last week his province would not submit the money it owed for the carbon price on natural gas as required on Feb. 29.
Moe is protesting Ottawa’s decision to exempt heating oil from the levy but not natural gas, which is used by eight in 10 households in Saskatchewan.

Foreign interference inquiry hearing some federal evidence behind closed doors
OTTAWA — The head of an inquiry into foreign interference has agreed to a federal request to present some evidence behind closed doors.
In a new decision, commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue says she is satisfied that the disclosure of certain classified information could harm Canada or its allies.
As a result, Hogue says, she must hear the federal evidence in the absence of other inquiry participants and the public, known as an in-camera hearing.

Quebec health officials report 10 cases of measles in Montreal area, confirm community spread
MONTREAL — Quebec public health officials say the Montreal area has become the epicentre of measles cases in Canada.
Officials have confirmed there is community spread of the virus in and around the city, with a total of 10 cases reported.

Survey finds 25% of Canadians think discrimination is a problem in sports
One-quarter of respondents polled last year felt that racism and discrimination were problems in community sports in the country, according to a survey published Monday by Statistics Canada.
Eighteen per cent of respondents said they have experienced or witnessed racism or discrimination in sport over the last five years, with race or skin colour the most cited reason at 64 per cent.
Physical appearance was cited in 42 per cent of incidents and ethnicity or culture in 38 per cent.

Six skiers rescued on southwestern B.C. mountains amid heavy snowfall
WHISTLER, B.C. — Six skiers have been rescued in two separate operations in the mountains in southwestern British Columbia.
North Shore Rescue says on its Facebook page that five skiers were reported lost Sunday night by Whistler Search and Rescue, and a helicopter was used to help find and bring out them out.
Rescuers say the lost skiers had to spend the night outside before they could get them out on Monday.

B.C. issues bulletin for people travelling abroad to get vaccinated against measles
VANCOUVER — Measles outbreaks internationally have health officials in British Columbia encouraging people to check their immunization records if they plan to travel abroad during spring break.
