TORONTO — Canada women’s soccer head coach Bev Priestman says her squad is ready to take another step forward on Tuesday.
Canada will host Jamaica at Toronto’s BMO Field in the second of a two-legged playoff to determine the final CONCACAF entry for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 10th-ranked Canadians defeated No. 37 Jamaica on Friday 2-0 in Kingston, Jamaica. That two-goal edge means Canada could qualify with even a 1-0 loss on aggregate.

Toxic drugs leading cause of death in B.C. for those age 10 to 59: coroner
VICTORIA — British Columbia’s coroner says drug toxicity is the leading cause of death in the province for those aged 10 to 59, far larger than homicides, suicides, accidents and natural diseases combined.

Canfor’s Vida signs deal to buy sawmill in Sweden for $6 million
VANCOUVER — Canfor Corp. says a Swedish company in which it owns a 70 per cent stake has signed a deal to buy a sawmill for $6 million.
The Vancouver-based forestry company says Vida AB will acquire the sawmill in Sweden from Ingarp Träskydd.
It says the mill has 50 million board feet in annual capacity.
It adds that it has the potential to expand to 100 million board feet.
The transaction is expected to close on Oct. 3.
