OTTAWA — Canada is helping to finance two new nuclear reactors in Romania, which that country’s energy minister says will help diminish Russia’s ability to use its energy exports as a weapon.
Canadian Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson signed the $3-billion deal with his Romanian counterpart, Sebastian Burduja, in Ottawa today.

OTTAWA — Bank of Canada deputy governor Sharon Kozicki says swings in the inflation rate are to be expected after the latest consumer price index report showed inflation climbed in August for the second month in a row.

Ziv to succeed Downey as Tennis Canada’s chief executive officer
TORONTO — Tennis Canada is promoting from within for its chief executive officer position.
Gavin Ziv, the organization’s senior vice-president and chief tournaments officer, will take on the role in the late fall.
He’ll succeed Michael Downey in the position.
Downey, who spent 15 years as Tennis Canada president and CEO, is set to retire on Dec. 31.
