OTTAWA — Canada is announcing $5 million in aid for groups helping people in Libya who have been displaced by disastrous flooding.
International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen said the money will help provide emergency health care, water and shelter to northeast Libya through groups like United Nations agencies and the Red Crescent.
The flooding started last Sunday, when storm Daniel caused dams to burst.
Some 10,000 people are missing and presumed dead in a disaster that has already cl -
McDavid, Draisaitl aiming for Oilers’ breakthrough after playoff disappointments
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl know their Stanley Cup window is wide open.
Two painful playoff exits has the Edmonton Oilers’ dynamic duo hungrier than ever to push through.
The club made the Western Conference final in 2022 before falling to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. The Oilers were then stopped in their tracks last spring – again by the team that would go onto hoist hockey’s holy grail – in the second round by the Vegas Golden Knights.

B.C. Lions maintain mantra of ‘one game at a time’ ahead of Redblacks tilt
SURREY, B.C. — Rick Campbell is maintaining his, and his team’s, mantra of “one game at a time” as the push to make the CFL post-season kicks into high gear.
With a win Saturday and a Calgary loss next week, the B.C. Lions would be a playoff team for a second straight season.
The Lions (8-4) take on the struggling Ottawa Redblacks (3-9) who have lost six in a row, but Campbell said he’s focused on how his own team performs.

‘Bunch of idiots’: Victim relatives query psychiatric releases, lawyers urge caution
VANCOUVER — Rebecca Mayrhofer said she felt “100 per cent frustrated” when she heard about a triple stabbing in Vancouver’s Chinatown on the weekend, that police allege was committed by a man on day release from psychiatric detention.
But she wasn’t surprised.
Blair Evan Donnelly, 64, had previously been found not criminally responsible for stabbing his teenage daughter to death in 2006 and was sent to B.C.’s Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam.

Borthwick counting on fans to roar England again to win against Japan at Rugby World Cup
NICE, France — England coach Steve Borthwick believed their fans became the team’s 15th man after Tom Curry was sent off last weekend against Argentina.
He’s counting on similar support on Sunday against Japan in Nice, where a second straight win would put England in pole position to win Pool D.
“When you go down to 14 men after two minutes, certainly in the stand there it was as if the supporters recognised the gap,” Borthwick said about the 27-10 win against the P -
