BROSSARD, Que. — Canadiens fifth-overall draft pick David Reinbacher had some high praise for talented defence partner Lane Hutson at Montreal’s development camp on Tuesday.
“You get the puck, skate it out a little bit, then you give it to him and just start watching,” said Reinbacher. “He’s probably the next Cale Makar.”
Hutson, 19, has a long way to go before reaching that level.

MANIGOTAGAN, Man. — Manitoba RCMP are investigating the death of a man apparently killed in a tent by a falling tree.
Police responded to a call early Monday about a sudden death at a campground at Manigotagan near Lake Winnipeg.
Officers were told that during a thunderstorm that produced high winds, a large tree fell onto a tent where a man and woman had been sleeping.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Redblacks have acquired the rights to Canadian linebacker Kevin Francis from the Edmonton Elks for a fourth-round pick in the 2024 CFL draft.

Akwesasne police say body found near island in St-Lawrence River
MONTREAL — Police in Akwesasne Mohawk Territory say a body has been found near a small island in the St. Lawrence River.
