B.C. to provide up to 8,000 free air conditioners to low-income, vulnerable people
VANCOUVER — The British Columbia government is giving its Crown power utility $10 million to provide up to 8,000 free air-conditioning units to vulnerable people.
A death review panel by the BC Coroners Service found that most of the 619 people who died in B.C.’s heat dome event in 2021 were low-income and vulnerable people who were 60 years and older.

MONTREAL — Vincenzo Guzzo, CEO of a large independent movie theatre chain in Quebec and investor on CBC Television’s “Dragon’s Den,” has been charged with criminal harassment.
The Quebec prosecutor’s office says Guzzo is accused of criminally harassing someone between November 2022 and June 2023. He was also charged for allegedly failing to comply with a condition not to communicate, directly or indirectly, with that person.

Canadiens deal draft picks, Fairbrother for Colorado’s Alex Newhook
NASHVILLE — The Montreal Canadiens have traded for Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Newhook.
In return for the 22-year-old centre, the Habs will send both a first and second round pick (31st and 37th overall) in Thursday’s NHL Entry draft as well as 22-year-old defenceman Gianni Fairbrother to Colorado.
Newhook tallied 66 points (27, 39) in 159 games for the Avalanche.
He was selected by Colorado as the 16th overall pick in the 2019 draft.

MIAMI (AP) — A court appearance has been postponed for a valet for Donald Trump charged with helping the former president hide classified documents that the Justice Department wanted back.
A lawyer for Walt Nauta told a judge Tuesday that Nauta had not yet been able to find a Florida-based attorney and was stuck in Newark, New Jersey and had been unable to fly down because of a canceled flight.
