The union announced the drive in a press release Wednesday after an in-person event near an Amazon fulfillment centre in New Westminster that included an appearance by Chris Smalls, president of the Amazon Labor Union in the U.S.

CALGARY — Police in Calgary say they have arrested a youth in relation to a terrorism investigation.
Details about the accused’s identity are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Surrey councillor breached conflict rules in police vote: ethics report
SURREY, B.C. — An ethics report has found that a Surrey, B.C., councillor who had family working for the RCMP breached ethics rules when he voted to halt the transition to an independent police force.

Woman injured in Manitoba bus crash dies in hospital, bringing death toll to 16
DAUPHIN, Man. — A woman injured in last week’s crash between a minibus and a transport truck in Manitoba has died in hospital, bringing the death toll to 16.

Preliminary hearing in September for Quebec man accused of killing three with truck
AMQUI, Que. — A Quebec man accused of killing three people with his truck will have a preliminary hearing in September.
Steeve Gagnon appeared today in Quebec court where a judge set a preliminary inquiry for the case between Sept. 5-8.
