VANCOUVER — British Columbia’s premier has announced $500 million in new funding for BC Ferries to keep fares low for passengers.
David Eby says a recent submission to the BC Ferries commissioner showed global inflation over the past 18 months means travellers could see a fare increase of more than 10 per cent a year between 2024 and 2028.
He says this investment aims to keep annual fare increases below 3 per cent, though the final cost will be determined by the commissioner.

BAKURIANI, Georgia — Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury successfully defended his men’s dual moguls world title on Sunday.The Deux-Montagnes, Que., outduelled Sweden’s Walter Wallberg in the final to strike gold for his fourth world title in the discipline.He won the last two world championships in 2019 and 2021.
Kingsbury crossed the finish line with a narrow lead of 0.05 seconds. In the judges’ scores, he came out ahead 19-16.

CHILLIWACK — They warned us it was coming, but the amount of snow that fell over the Fraser Valley overnight, is still surprising.
Road crews were expecting the snow and have been working since early Sunday (Feb. 26) morning to clear roadways however Abbotsford Police are still asking residents to postpone any unnecessary travel today.
According to Environment Canada, 31 cm of snow fell in Chilliwack while the Abbotsford International Airport saw 23 cm of snow.

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Denis Gurianov from the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Evgenii Dadonov, the team announced Sunday.

Vancouver snowstorm impacts flights at YVR
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver International Airport says incoming snowy weather has resulted in about 15 per cent of flights being cancelled.
It says it worked with airlines to adjust their schedules to delay or cancel flights in and out of the airport, particularly overnight.
