VICTORIA — Health authorities in British Columbia say two workers were injured this morning when a pipe carrying steam ruptured at Victoria General Hospital.
Island Health says in a statement that the two hospital staff are receiving care, and no patients were injured or affected.
The health authority says a “mechanical emergency” caused flooding in a non-patient care area.
It says plans are now underway to remediate and repair the area.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says a decision by Sunwing Vacations to suspend its flights from the Saskatoon and Regina airports for a month is irresponsible.
The airline announced Thursday it was immediately cancelling its operations through Feb. 3 at Saskatchewan’s two international airports due to extenuating circumstances.

CF Montreal signs defender George Campbell to three-year contract
MONTREAL — CF Montreal signed defender George Campbell to a three-year contract on Friday.
The deal includes an option year for the 2026 season, the Major League Soccer club said in a release.
The 21-year-old centre back was acquired by CF Montreal on Dec. 13 from Atlanta United FC.
Campbell played in 36 regular-season games over three seasons with Atlanta.
He has also made two appearances for the American U20 national team.

Avalanche Canada extends warning into Banff, Yoho, Kootenay and Jasper national parks
REVELSTOKE, B.C. — A special avalanche warning is in place until Monday throughout most of the Columbia Mountains in British Columbia as well as the Northern Rockies in B.C. and Alberta.
The warning, which was issued earlier this week, now includes Banff, Yoho, Kootenay and Jasper national parks.
