OTTAWA — The Canadian Army is rushing to buy new equipment in response to lessons learned from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

MONTREAL — Hydro-Québec says more than 10,700 customers are still without power a week after a major winter storm knocked out transmission lines across the province.
The utility says the power is still out for more than 3,300 customers in the Quebec City area, about 2,800 clients in the Laurentians region, and for roughly 1,200 customers in the Outaouais region.

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Mounties and Chilliwack Fire Department personnel responded to a fire that erupted sometime Wednesday evening (Dec. 28) in close proximity to Mayor Ken Popove’s retail tire shop.

Health agency ‘closely monitoring’ COVID-19 in China, no mention of pre-flight tests
OTTAWA — The national public health agency says it’s “closely monitoring” the COVID-19 situation in China, but gives no indication it’s planning to follow the U.S. by requiring that travellers from China be tested for the virus.
