B.C. woman’s remains found decades after her killer was convicted
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — The remains of a woman have been found in Prince George, B.C., 30 years after her killer was convicted of her murder.
RCMP say the human remains were discovered last month in Connaught Hill Park.
Police say with the help of the BC Coroners Service, it was able to identify the remains as those of Donna Charlie, who was killed in 1990.
While the initial investigation resulted in a conviction, police say the file remained open with its missing persons unit.&n -

OTTAWA — Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly has announced a fifth package of economic sanctions against Iran as the country continues its crackdown on human-rights protesters.

VICTORIA — British Columbia’s provincial health officer says she doesn’t believe there’s a need for the “heavy hand” of a mask mandate.
Dr. Bonnie Henry says while influenza cases are up, 90 per cent of people in the province have some immunity to the COVID-19 virus through vaccination and infection or both.
Henry says masks are an important tool, but they should be used in situations where it makes sense, including in health care settings.

22 LA County sheriff’s recruits hit by vehicle during run
WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) — A vehicle struck 22 Los Angeles County sheriff’s recruits on a training run around dawn Wednesday and five were critically injured, authorities said.
A total of 23 people were injured, including the driver, said Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Sheila Kelliher.
