The team of skip Felix Asselin, lead Emily Riley, second Emile Asselin and third Laurie St-Georges had the final all but wrapped up after a four-point steal in the third end put Quebec up 9-0.

Remnants of hurricane Nicole bring heavy rain to southern Quebec and Atlantic region
MONTREAL — The remnants of hurricane Nicole are bringing heavy rainfall to much of southern Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
Environment Canada said Friday that Nicole would merge overnight with a cold front and track into the Maritimes.
New Brunswick is expected to receive up to 70 millimetres of rainfall by this morning.

Trudeau arrives in Cambodia for ASEAN summit as Canada seeks deeper Indo-Pacific ties
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has touched down in Cambodia for a summit aimed at deepening Canada’s economic ties with Southeast Asia.

Police investigate shooting near junior college in Laval, Que.
LAVAL, Que. — At least three people were shot and injured in a park near a junior college in Laval, Que., just north of Montreal.
Laval police say they received word just before 5:30 p.m. Friday of a shooting in a park near Collège Montmorency, in that city’s Chomedey district.

Former Canada forward Iain Hume retires after scoring goals around the globe
Forward Iain Hume, whose soccer career took him from England to India with 43 Canadian caps along the way, has officially confirmed his retirement.
