EDMONTON — Alberta’s new energy minister says that for now, he will maintain an order protecting the Rocky Mountains from coal development.

EDMONTON — Alberta’s Court of Appeal has dismissed the case of a woman who was unable to get an organ transplant because she refused to take a COVID-19 vaccine.
Annette Lewis was diagnosed with a terminal disease in 2018 and was told she would not survive unless she received an organ transplant.
She was placed on a transplant waitlist in 2020, but was told a year later she would need to get the vaccine to receive an organ.

Trudeau announces half a billion dollars more for rural high-speed internet access
OROMOCTO, N.B. — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is announcing an extra $475 million to the federal government’s fund for delivering high-speed internet to rural homes across the country.
Trudeau made the announcement today in Oromocto, N.B., where he said the money will help connect another 60,000 homes in Canada to high-speed internet.

MONTREAL — A seven-month-old baby from a northern First Nations community who died of meningitis in April might have survived if it hadn’t taken so long to get her to hospital, a Quebec coroner has concluded.
Niteïyah Chilton died of bacterial meningitis after it took about five and a half hours to bring her to a regional hospital by ambulance, and more than eight and a half hours to get her to a specialized pediatric centre in Montreal.
