Arson suspected in Abbotsford fire
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford are dealing with a suspected arson. The fire was reported early Saturday morning at Clearbrook Village at 3030 Trethewey Street.
In a news release, the Abbotsford Police Department says the home was occupied when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and Abbotsford Police Patrol Members managed to assist with the evacuation of everyone in the building and no occupants were injured.

VANCOUVER — The federal government is putting $5 million toward chronic pain resources in what Carolyn Bennett, minister of mental health and addictions, says is part of an effort to help stop people with untreated pain from seeking relief through toxic street drugs.

Officials: US aid worker shot dead in Baghdad in rare attack
BAGHDAD (AP) — Assailants shot dead an American aid worker in Baghdad on Monday in a rare killing of a foreigner in the Iraqi capital in recent years, two police officials said.

LAVAL, Que. — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today took part today in a groundbreaking ceremony for biotechnology company Moderna’s new mRNA vaccine factory in Laval, Que., a suburb of Montreal.

Military investigating after Canadian soldier dies in Iraq
OTTAWA — The Canadian Armed Forces says it is investigating the death of a Winnipeg-based soldier who was serving in Iraq.
Capt. Eric Cheung, 38, died Saturday under what the military is calling “non-operational related circumstances,” though the exact details are now under investigation.
