Canada won’t make ‘veiled threat’ over Irish border, U.K. envoy Goodale says
OTTAWA — Canada’s envoy to the United Kingdom says Ottawa will not suspend trade negotiations with the British government over concerns about the Irish border.
Britain has announced plans to change its arrangement with the European Union, which could eventually reinstate a border between the region of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
That has led to fears of a return to the decades of violence that ended with a 1998 peace agreement, which made the border almost invisible -

Climate Changed: First Nation balances Western science with traditional knowledge
STAND OFF, Alta. — The Prairie Blood coulee winds through a property on the Kainai Nation, also known as the Blood Tribe, in southern Alberta.
On a warm fall day, about a dozen people haul willows, mulch, dirt and water to several spots along a dry creek bed. Some pound large posts into the ground.

Nova Scotia’s retirement home for captive whales facing obstacles, delays: documents
HALIFAX — An ambitious plan in Nova Scotia to build North America’s first coastal refuge for captive whales is at least five years behind its original schedule, newly released documents show.
The project, announced in February 2020, calls for construction of a 40-hectare underwater enclosure that would provide a natural environment for beluga and orca whales retired from marine parks. It would be as large as 50 football fields and about 300 times larger than the biggest captive whale -
In new book, Maggie Haberman considers Trump’s future by delving into his past
WASHINGTON — Whether she’s in pursuit of a story or just navigating New York’s legendary rush-hour traffic, it’s never a good idea to get in Maggie Haberman’s way.

More than once, the sound of her car horn blasting some ignorant commuter punctuates the di -
