OTTAWA — The Toronto Argonauts tightened their grip on first place in the East Division with a 24-19 over the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday afternoon.
Toronto (7-5) now has a four-point cushion over the second-place Montreal Alouettes (5-7).
Despite a strong push in the second half, the Redblacks (3-9) left their 21,673 fans still waiting for their first home win at TD Place and saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.

VICTORIA — Afternoon sunshine streams into the Fairmont Empress Hotel’s iconic high tea room in Victoria, British Columbia, but cannot lift the sombre mood brought on by the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

FLOOD HOPE — The fire that broke out late Thursday night (Sept. 8) west of Hope has now grown to 50 hectares, prompting an evacuation notice Friday evening from the District of Hope and the Fraser Valley Regional District.

The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. on the 10-day injured list on Friday due to a left hamstring strain.
