Former NHL player Daniel Carcillo is angry about the testimony of Canadian hockey officials at a parliamentary hearing looking into the handling of recent assault allegations.
Carcillo filed a statement of claim with the Ontario Superior Court in 2020, alleging abuse and hazing in a class-action lawsuit.

OTTAWA — The federal government has confirmed that Canada asked France to extradite a priest who is accused of crimes against children in Nunavut.
A spokesman for the Justice Department says the Public Prosecution Service of Canada made the extradition request for Johannes Rivoire, but did not say when and provided no more details.

Canada’s top doc encourages safe sex, fewer partners to prevent spread of monkeypox
OTTAWA — Dr. Theresa Tam says Canadians — especially men who have sex with men — should practice safe sex and reduce the number of partners to reduce the spread of monkeypox in Canada.
The World Health Organization declared the virus a public health emergency of international concern over the weekend.
Tam, the chief public health officer, says there are 745 confirmed cases of the monkeypox reported in Canada and 99 per cent of those affected are men.

SURREY, B.C. — Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Ripudaman Singh Malik.
Malik, the man acquitted in 2005 for bombings aimed at Air India jets that killed 331 people, was shot in his vehicle outside his business in Surrey, B.C., on July 14.

VANCOUVER — Police in Vancouver say a woman they describe as “vulnerable” has serious burns after a man poured a flammable liquid on her and set it on fire.
A statement from police says it happened at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.

CHILLIWACK — Glimmering new multi-use game areas have been installed at two parks in Chilliwack, giving youth and families alike a freshly painted, newly surfaced facility on which to play basketball or hockey.
One multi-use game area is located at Watson Glen Park, 5775 Tyson Road, and the other is at the Landing, 9145 Corbould Street. Each game area features a paved surface, basketball hoops, line markings, and large and small recessed nets ideal for ball hockey or soccer.
