OTTAWA — A Canadian Judicial Council inquiry committee says a Quebec judge who displayed “aggressive and disagreeable” attitudes toward lawyers and failed to render decisions on time should be removed from office.

MONTREAL — Quebec’s chief coroner, Pascale Descary, is ordering a public inquest into the 2019 killing of a Montreal woman and her two young children.
Descary says the inquest will also probe the suicide of the woman’s husband and the children’s father, who is believed to have killed his family before he killed himself.

MP Kevin Vuong fined for failing to report sex assault charge to Naval Reserve
MONTREAL — Kevin Vuong, a Toronto member of Parliament and naval reservist, has been fined $500 for failing to tell the Royal Canadian Navy about a 2019 sexual assault charge.
Naval Reserve spokesman Lt. Robert Moore says Vuong at a summary trial in Montreal admitted to the charge of failing to report an arrest.

Roughriders cancel practice after six more players test positive for COVID-19
REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders cancelled their practice Wednesday after six additional players tested positive for COVID-19.
The team said in a release it has 10 players in various stages of COVID protocol.
The Roughriders are scheduled to host the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.

POWERVIEW, Man. — A First Nations woman says she is disappointed a 92-year-old priest accused of assaulting her when she was a student at a former residential school did not attend his first court appearance.

LONGUEUIL, Que. — A city just south of Montreal is planning a controlled hunt to kill most of the deer living in a local park after the population jumped by almost 50 per cent over the last year.
