Questions remain as Rogers Communications continues to restore service after a network outage that affected customers across the country.
The outage, which lasted more than 15 hours, affected mobile and internet users, preventing calls to 911 services in some Canadian cities, knocking out ATMs and shutting down the Interac payments system.

Federal apology today for racism faced by all-Black Canadian unit in First World War
TRURO, N.S. — Federal government and Armed Forces officials will be in Nova Scotia today to issue a formal apology for the treatment of Canada’s only all-Black unit to serve in the First World War.

The Canadian government has quietly changed the name of Turkey to the official Turkish spelling Türkiye in all official communications.

Forward Alex DeBrincat says he’s excited to join the Ottawa Senators
OTTAWA — Alex DeBrincat and the Ottawa Senators have mutual goals and each side is hoping the other will be the key to fulfilling them.
The Senators acquired the 24-year-old DeBrincat from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade Thursday just hours before the start of the NHL draft.

Child allegedly taken from Toronto subway station found safe, police say
Toronto police say they’ve found a man and a toddler he’s alleged to have taken from an east-end subway station.Investigators say no injuries have been reported.
Police previously said a man had taken a stroller with a toddler in it around 5 p.m. at Victoria Park station.
They said the pair had last been seen heading east on the subway.

Organizers of papal visit warn not to buy tickets to open-air mass from resellers
EDMONTON — Organizers of the Pope’s visit to Canada are warning the public not to buy tickets from resellers online, saying they may not be legitimate.
Thousands of tickets for the Pope’s open-air mass at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium were all booked about 15 minutes after they were made available to the public for free earlier in the week.
