• Protesters at Trudeau airport back workers threatened with outsourcing

Roughly 100 protesters descended on Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau Airport on Sunday morning to support workers whose jobs are threatened if they don’t accept a 33 per cent salary rollback.
Josée Dubois, the president of the union representing the airports white collar workers, says the employer is threatening to replace 93 clerks, administrative agents and security guards through outsourcing.
She couldn’t explain the reasoning behind the decision.

  • Jack Todd: Montreal baseball study promising, but we'll be twisting in the wind for a long time

If Major League Baseball is indeed wending its way back to Montreal, it is doing so at the pace of one of those interminable postseason games we saw in October — one stately, cautious step at a time.
That, of course, is as it should be. As it has to be. Stephen Bronfman and Mitch Garber know precisely what they’re doing. They’re the twin engines behind the effort to bring the Expos back to town and they understand that this can’t be done in haste, or with a noisy public b

As it is really tough to predict something really novel a year ahead, I have decided to hedge my bets and predict 2119. (Who’s going to be around to dispute it?)
A recent Angus-Reid poll posed the following feeler: “Is there a future in predicting the future?” The results were startling: 64 per cent said Yes, 14 per cent said No a

  • Fitness: How mindful is your workout?

Mindfulness is a common buzzword around the gym. But what does it mean to be mindful during a workout? And is there any proven benefit to “being in the moment”?
A team of researchers from the U.K. tackled some of these questions, searching for any evidence that practising mindfulness during exercise can make workouts more enjoyable, purposeful and ultimately increase the chances of sticking with it.
For those new to the concept, the definition of mindfulness is being attentive t

  • In the Habs' Room: Canadiens show once again they won't give up

There’s one very admirable thing about this Canadiens team: they won’t give up.
The Canadiens have showed that time and again this season and Saturday night was another example when they rallied from a 2-1 deficit after two periods to beat the Senators 5-2. The Canadiens also had to beat the referees, who made what might be the worst call of the NHL season when they penalized Artturi Lehkonen for embellishment after getting hooked to the ice by Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot while
  • Canadiens ride Carey Price's hot hand to a 5-2 win over Senators

If the Canadiens are going to make the playoffs, this was one of those games they have to win.
They did, but it wasn’t as easy as the final score might indicate as the Canadiens rallied from a 2-1 deficit after two periods to beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 at the Bell Centre.
The Senators are below the Canadiens in the standings and were playing their second game in two nights, following a 4-2 win in Detroit on Friday, while the Canadiens hadn’t played since Thursday’s 6-4 win ov
  • About last night … Canadiens romp to another 5-2 Senators stomp

    The good news?
No more games against dishwater-dull Ottawa.
    The bad news?
Who else can the Canadiens beat 5-2 three times in a row?
And who else can they outshoot 47-18?
But it wasn’t an easy Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
Despite outshooting the visitors 28-11 through two periods, the Canadiens trailed 2-1 … largely owing to the brilliance of Mike McKenna.
And you couldn’t really fault the lifetime minor-league goaltender for the four-goal third-period explosion that sank

Ottawa needed nine minutes to get their first second-period shot on goal. It went in, as Mikkel Boedker beat Carey Price from the slot.
