• Quebec groups already vowing to fight ban on religious garb

Famed civil rights lawyer Julius Grey would help any groups or individuals fight an eventual law on religious clothing, proposed by the incoming Coalition Avenir Québec government.
On Wednesday, the party made it clear that school teachers, police officers, judges and prison guards who wear outward signs of their religions will have to find another job. That’s according to the CAQ’s proposed law on secularism in the state — an attempt to “better integrate&rdqu
  • Fariha Naqvi-Mohamed: Faith or job? What kind of choice is that?

As a Quebecer, I would have expected premier-designate François Legault to prioritize our crumbling infrastructure, the health-care system and access to daycare. No such luck. It seems Legault means to waste no time in moving forward with his plan to forbid some public employees from wearing anything that identifies their religion.
So as a proud, Quebec-born Muslim woman, I felt sucker punched upon hearing comments on the subject Wednesday from members of the incoming government. I felt l

As the Oct. 17 launch of the recreational market quickly approaches, we need to acknowledge the diversity of opinion on how to handle cannabis in Canada.
