• Food safety warning issued for Côte St-Luc restaurant Ernie and Ellie's

    Provincial and municipal authorities are warning consumers not to eat food that was purchased from Ernie and Ellie’s, a Côte St-Luc restaurant and catering company, on or before Sept. 29.
    Quebec’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the city of Montreal’s food inspection division are also warning consumers not to eat a variety of prepared food — including salads, soups and dips — prepared by the company and sold through other distributers.

    The Canadiens’ opening-day roster came into focus Sunday when the team placed forwards Kenny Agostino and Michael Chaput on waivers.
    If they clear waivers by noon Monday, they will be assigned to the Canadiens’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Laval Rocket.

    Two men were injured, one by a gun shot and the other by a blow to the head, when a fight broke out on Sunday about 5:30 a.m. in an apartment in Côte-St-Luc.
    The men then left the building on Kingsley Rd. and the fight continued outside, where some shots were fired, said Montreal Police spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron.

    October 1 is the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons.
    The Little Brothers organization is asking the public to mark the occasion by visiting a senior on Monday.
