Class-action request filed against exo over train service
A request for a class-action lawsuit filed at the Montreal courthouse on Monday argues that exo should compensate commuters affected by late or cancelled trains.
The request contends that the commuter train service provider (formerly known as the AMT and the RTM) failed to provide adequate service to people who purchased tickets and passes in the past three years, causing them and their families “stress and inconvenience, out-of-pocket expenses, loss of income and loss of opportunity for a -
Far away from Habs' hellish 'reset', P.K. Subban's having a great summer
P.K. Subban is still having a better summer than the rest of us.
Previously spotted on a yacht and the cover of Sports Illustrated, the former Montreal Canadien turned up at Wednesday night’s premiere of The Spy Who Dumped Me.
Far from Montreal’s humidity and from what many call a rebuild (but Habs GM Marc Bergevin calls a “reset” but nevermind!), Subban and girlfriend Lindsey Vonn posed on the red carpet.
They also had the chance to meet Sharon Stone and were suitably aw -
A career in 90 words: The art of plaque writing at Baseball Hall of Fame
COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — When Vladimir Guerrero and five others are inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame on Sunday, they’ll find out just how they’ll be remembered on their small bronze plaque marking baseball’s best.
What they may not know is just how much care went into crafting the handful of words aimed at summarizing a lifetime of on-field accolades.
In keeping with the traditions of the game, putting together what’s finally etched on the bronze plaque is very mu -
T'Cha Dunlevy: Robert Lepage's Kanata cancellation is right result, wrong reason
Déjà vu, anyone?
For the second time in less than a month, Robert Lepage has had a theatrical production cancelled. And for the second time, that production has been embroiled in a controversy around cultural appropriation; but once again, the cancellation doesn’t come as a direct response to the controversy.
Kanata, a collaboration between Lepage and Ariane Mnouchkine of Paris’ Théâtre du Soleil, revisited Canadian Indigenous history including residential -

VANCOUVER — Russell Teibert believes a trip to the Canadian Championship finals may be just what the Vancouver Whitecaps need to turn their season around.

The Impact won the first half of the series 1-0 in Montreal last week.
Vancouver has been in a slump lately, losing five of their previous six matches, and are -

Montreal housing market close to overheating: CMHC
Montreal’s housing market is close to the threshold for being considered “overheated,” according to a new report by The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation. However, it still faces a low degree of vulnerability to market instability.
The seasonally adjusted sales-to-new listings ratio was slightly below 69 per cent during the three-month period ended on March 2018, the Crown corporation said in its quarterly Housing Market Assessment. The threshold for overheating is -

As Lepage cancels Kanata, both sides of debate express dismay
The upcoming play Kanata has been cancelled in the wake of a meeting last Thursday between Robert Lepage, Ariane Mnouchkine and the signatories of an open letter published July 14 in Le Devoir.

Fariha Naqvi-Mohamed: Faith shouldn't be a barrier to success
Here in Canada, we are blessed with the opportunity to live our lives without apologizing for who we are; we live in a society that for the most part celebrates our differences. For members of some faith and cultural communities, however, it does not come as easily. For Canadian Muslims trying to get ahead in life, further their careers, provide for their families and create change in society, doing so while proudly practising their religion in a manner that displays their faith can be a challeng -

Why Heavy Montréal may be our most entertaining festival
So, Limp Bizkit, hunh? That’s … interesting.
As Heavy Montréal goes Undead-Undead-Undead after a widely mourned one-year absence from the summer calendar, what more fitting return than to resurrect the career of another crew of one-time metal bastards?
While Heavy Montréal prepared the cannon-amps for this weekend, their mammoth Day 2 headliner Avenged Sevenfold was reluctantly bowing out after singer M. Shadows came down with a viral infection that threatens his futur -

Heart disease kills mostly women, so why are they excluded from drug trials?
Is heart disease a man thing?
Actually, heart disease kills more women than men, many of them elderly. It’s the No. 1 one cause of death in Canada of women over age 55. So why are two-thirds of medical researchers and drug companies testing treatments on youngish men, about age 60?
Health advocates raised an alarm years ago that women and the elderly tend to be excluded from clinical drug trials.

Montreal's downtown streets are rich with urban art
There is a vitality and a grace about downtown Montreal that is sometimes lost on its sons and daughters: In our purposeful strides along its streets, we sometimes forget to take note of the beauty around us.
Joanna Abrahamowicz, a guide at Montreal’s McCord Museum, sees the world through the eyes of the artist that she is. She designed a 90-minute walking tour of the neighbourhood of Ville-Marie that incorporates buildings as well as outdoor art. It’s one of three walking tours of d -

Opponents of the site that was chosen by the city to build one of its municipal organic waste treatment centres say the birdstrike threat due to its proximity to Trudeau airport should alone prompt the city to find a different location.
In fact, businessman Youssef Nakhoul, whose manufacturing plant abuts the site that Montreal expropriated for the future organic waste facility on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. W. in St-Laurent, two kilometres from the airport, said he doesn’t understand how the cit -

“The rock stars aren’t (jerks),” said Hughes in an interview with Smiles on Wednesday on Île-Notre-Dame, at Artists World, where the musicians will be hanging and eating at t -

Vernon Adams knows Als' starting QB job will soon be Johnny Manziel's
There’s this voice in the back of Vernon Adams’s mind, repeating the same statement — the Alouettes didn’t acquire Johnny Manziel to sit him on the bench.
Two months ago, when Manziel reported to training camp in Hamilton, Tiger-Cats management said much the same thing. Then Jeremiah Masoli went out and passed for at least 300 yards in four consecutive games, and now Manziel is on his second Canadian Football League team in his rookie season.
Adams can probably relate. He -

Some pedal-shy commuters may find this appealing.
Others, like the Gazette’s T’Cha Dunlevy, view it as “just one more thing to worry about.”
So where do you stand on the electric Bixi proposal? Let us know by voting in the poll below:Take Our Poll
