    French football fans flooded Montreal streets to celebrate France’s 4-2 win over Croatia in the World Cup final on Sunday.
    The win, France’s second World Cup title, was a coming-out party for teenager Kylian Mbappe.
    The 19-year-old Mbappe became only the second teenager after Pele to score in a World Cup final.

    The Canadiens and Phillip Danault have avoided salary arbitration.
    The club announced on Sunday afternoon that the 25-year-old centre has agreed to terms on a new three-year contract worth US$9,249,999 that has an annual salary-cap hit of $3.083 million.

    Quebec’s Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks is asking for citizens to watch out for signs of bad blood in the province’s northeastern bat population.

  • Body found after fire ravaged apartment building in Thetford Mines

    A body was discovered in a fire-ravaged building in Thetford Mines early Sunday.
    At approximately 12:30 a.m., emergency services received a call about the fire, which took over a three-unit apartment building on d’Auteuil St. in the city in Quebec’s Chaudière-Appalaches region.
    The deceased individual has not yet been identified and the investigation has been handed over to the Sûreté du Québec.

  • Fight between two homeless men in Montreal ends with one dead

    A 53-year old man experiencing homelessness is dead after being killed by another homeless man Saturday night in downtown Montreal.
    Around 9:30, police discovered the victim on Union Avenue, near Sainte-Catherine Street.
    According to witnesses, a conflict went sour between the two men.
    One of them was stabbed in his upper body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries.
    The suspect, a 66-year-old man, was arrested on the premises and taken to a detention centre.

  • Montreal boy, 14, in critical condition after jumping into closed pool

    A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after being found unconscious on Saturday night in a city swimming pool in the Cartierville district.
    The boy is believed to have climbed a fence to jump into the pool in the Marcellin-Wilson sports comple on Dudemaine Stree, which was closed at the time. It is not known whether he went alone.

    A Wyoming city has discovered its potted plants have literally gone to pot.
    Officials in Powell believe pranksters planted marijuana seeds in city-owned flower pots this spring, leading unsuspecting city workers to water and care for them.

  • Man's life in danger after car crash in St-Prosper

    A man whose vehicle went off the road and ended up in a ditch near St-Prosper in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec is fighting for his life in hospital.
    The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to the scene around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
    The driver was stuck in his car. Hydraulic cutters had to be used to extract him from the vehicle according to the SQ.
    He was transported to hospital. Authorities fear for his life.
    The incident is being investigated.
  • Man surrenders to police, ending 20-hour standoff at Drummondville home

    A 30-year-old man who barricaded himself in a Drummondville home for 20 hours has turned himself in peacefully to police according to the Sûreté du Québec.
    He was threatening to use a knife against himself or the police if they approached him. He was brought to hospital just after 5:00 p.m. Saturday where he will receive treatment.
    An SQ spokesperson said that they believed the man was in a mental health crisis. He was alone in his home.
