Carmen Campagne had a beautiful laugh. It was loud, vibrant and lit up the room.

  • Jack Todd: Shea Weber doesn't deserve fans adding insult to injury

Shea Weber reminds me a great deal of my favourite player, back in the days when I was a fan of the Canadiens, not a newspaper columnist: No. 19, Larry Robinson. Weber is even taller than Big Bird, with the same strength, the same ability to start a rush or stop one going the other way, the same utterly professional approach to his job.
Weber is also like Robinson in that he is humble and soft-spoken and (at times) visibly uncomfortable under the klieg lights of Montreal, but he has never compla
  • Poll: Are you optimistic about the Canadiens for next season?

With the announcement this week that Shea Weber had surgery on his right knee on June 19, and would not be available to the Canadiens until December, many fans took to social media to voice their discontent.
Comments went from pessimistic to hopping-mad that the Habs’ GM Marc Bergevin, did not disclose earlier that Weber had the surgery.
Bergevin had received some slack with this year’s draft, picking many centres especially Jesperi Kotkaniemi, the Canadiens’ first-round pick a

While the two-week hiatus this column enjoyed was due to the long weekends, I must admit that it was very conveniently timed. I’ve spent much of the last month enjoying what has been an absolutely mind-boggling World Cup.
Most days, I’ve watched from Café Olimpico, a bastion of soccer, yes, but also of diversity, with people from all walks of life stopping in to cheer on their native countries or the teams they’ve adopted. I’ve watched games with an young Iranian m

  • Lesley Chesterman's top 10 bring-your-own-wine restaurants

Of all the requests I receive for recommendations, nothing tops the demand for the best bring-your-own-wine restaurants.Yes, we all like to save a buck on booze, but frankly this category of restaurant includes some of the most mediocre eateries in the city. So the category, though popular, is a bit uneven, with some hits and, sadly, a lot more misses. Be wary, also, of the idea that BYOW restaurants are a great deal, as menu prices tend to be higher than at their equivalent licensed restaurant.
  • Fitness: Make exercise a habit before your middle age

As the saying goes, age is just a number — that is until our bodies start telling us just how old we really are. And while we have little control over the number of candles that light our birthday cake, we can control some of the biological aging that occurs over time.
The idea that there’s a mismatch between chronological age and biological age is a relatively new phenomenon, with the biggest poster child for this trend being masters athletes. A favourite subject of scientists who s

The Colorado Rapids tried their best to put the 16,030 fans at Saputo Stadium to sleep Saturday night and for the first 45 minutes they almost did.
The Rapids came into this MLS game against the Impact obviously looking for a nil-nil road tie and for the first half they looked sort of like the Canadiens last season: bad, boring and unable to score.
