    Demolition of the paddocks at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve began Tuesday — the first step of a $60-million rebuild that Formula One organizers say will be ready in time for next year’s Grand Prix.

    An inmate who escaped from Amos prison in Abitibi-Témiscamingue Sunday has been found, the Sûreté du Québec says.

    As of Monday, one lane on a section of both Notre-Dame St. E. and René-Lévesque Blvd. will be reserved for buses to ease rush hour commutes from Montreal’s east end.

    Daniel Arsenault has been charged with the murder of a waitress Tuesday at the Joliette courthouse.
    The 52-year-old man was arrested Monday in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Lanaudière, for the murder of 22-year-old Chloé Bellehumeur-Lemay. The woman’s body was found the night before in the ruins of Resto-bar 239, which the Sûreté du Québec believe was set on fire to cover her killing.

    Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Montreal, Laval, Châteauguay, and Longueuil areas just before 5 p.m. Monday. By 6 p.m. the organization ended the warning.
