Dorchester Square to get a Victorian fountain in renovation project
Dorchester Square in downtown Montreal is about to get bigger.
Work started Tuesday on a long-delayed, $8.9-million renovation that will expand the public space, adding lawned areas, a water fountain and pedestrian bridges.

Depots for new hybrid buses to cost more than $800 million
Montreal’s transit agency says it will cost more than $800 million to build bus depots and renovate others to accommodate 300 new hybrid buses the city plans to introduce in 2020.

A coalition of environmental groups is calling for a golf course and adjacent woods in Anjou to be turned into a park.

A Superior Court judge has authorized a class action lawsuit against Gilbert Rozon, filed by a group of women who allege they were sexually assaulted or harassed by the Just for Laughs founder.

The Canadiens announced on Tuesday morning that they have re-signed backup goaltender Antti Niemi to a one-year, one-way contract for the 2018-19 season.
After being claimed off waivers by the Canadiens from the Florida Panthers last November, Niemi posted a 7-5-4 record with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage. The 34-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
