    The controversial leader of the OneBC party will be in Langley on Friday, Feb. 20, speaking with a far-right activist at a local church.
    Dallas Brodie of OneBC is at the event organized by the Action4Canada organization, with its leader Tanya Gaw and host Danielle Pistilli.

    In overtime, Canada lost 2-1 to the United States in the 2026 Winter Olympics gold medal game on Thursday, Feb. 19.

  • Salvation Army campaign raises $185K in Abbotsford and Mission

    The Salvation Army in Abbotsford and Mission surpassed its goal by more than $10,000 for the Red Kettle Campaign over the recent holiday season.
    The annual fundraiser ran from Nov. 28 to Dec. 24 at 15 locations – 12 in Abbotsford and three in Mission – and raised more than $185,000.
    The funds raised go towards programs and services at the Centre of Hope on Gladys Avenue in support of individuals and families who have met with hard times.

    Riskier snowpack conditions at lower elevations in Rogers Pass triggered some close calls for backcountry users this past weekend, including a splitboarder who broke his foot in an avalanche Monday.
    The Feb. 16 incident saw the visitor trigger a Size 2 snowslide in the treeline right under his feet, before it carried him 100 metres down the Cougar Creek East avalanche path, according to a Mountain Information Network (MIN) report submitted to Avalanche Canada.

    Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has reported an assault and a lockdown in the same week at medium-security Mountain Institution in Agassiz.

    One Abbotsford athlete’s creativity will be on display this summer as young rugby players from all across the province gather to build up their skills at the U15 Build a Bear Camp.

  • B.C. paramedics union votes to authorize job action

    B.C.’s ambulance paramedics and emergency dispatchers have overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike, according to an announcement by the union on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
    More than 6,000 members of the Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Dispatchers of B.C. participated in the strike vote, with over 97 per cent supporting job action.

    An impaired driver was arrested in Abbotsford last week with his four children in the vehicle after allegedly crashing into two vehicles in Langley and fleeing the scene.

    The Hope RCMP are seeking the public’s help in locating one of two men charged in connection to a hotel break-in and assault that occurred in Hope.
    Police are looking for Jacob Sihata who is wanted on an outstanding warrant.
