As part of its new budget, the B.C. government is looking to introduce a $400 million fund to allow the province to invest in — and take an equity stake in — certain types of major projects.
These could include defence-related initiatives, critical mineral projects and more.

via abbynews.comA 52-year-old Surrey man has been arrested and charged with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material by mail after a multi-jurisdictional investigation by the BC RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation Unit.
The charges come after BC ICE investigation received information from Mission RCMP regarding a suspect who had allegedly sent such material by mail, who was believed to be in British Columbia in March of last year, a BC RCMP release said.

RCMP officers from the RCMP Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit arrested Van Rootselaar on his outstanding Canada-wide arrest warrant from a 2024 Fort McMurray attempted murder investigation.

Jack Terpstra was last seen in Abbotsford on Monday (Feb. 23) at approxiately 2:30 p.m. on the 3100 block of Wheel Avenue, according to a social media post from APD.
Terpstra is described as a 5’7” Caucasian with brown hair and blue eyes. Police said he was last seen wearing a black plaid jacket with a black hood, and an olive green shirt with “mountains and isles” written on it.

According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department, the vehicle left the road and struck the pole in the Huntingdon Road area.
Power lines are down and Huntingdon Road is closed between McCallum Road and Gladwin Road, police said.
The department added that heavy fog remains in the area and advised drivers to use caution on Tuesday morning.

via abbynews.comThe need for paramedics has grown to all new heights in Abbotsford as B.C. Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) reported that ambulances were called to a record number of incidents in 2025.
BCEHS responded to a total of 20,906 calls to Abbotsford last year, which is a nearly three per cent increase from 2024.
This gives the city one of the highest numbers of ambulance calls in the province, with only four other communities having more in 2025.
