The Pitt Supremacy is Here
via laineygossip.com
Last year, The Pitt made a clean sweep of awards season, winning every major drama series award at every major awards show. This year, The Pitt still won a lot—six total Emmys for its second season—but it wasn’t QUITE as dominant as last year. In a sign that Emmy voters can, in fact, keep up with new shows, Pluribus won a couple notable trophies, but more on that later. For The Pitt, Noah Wyle repeated as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and the show repeated as Outstan -
Baseball This Week in Quebec: Otto Lopez Follows in Roberto Clemente’s Footsteps
via dose.ca
As we watch the final moments of the MLB season unfold, Quebec baseball is still in full swing across the province. Here's the latest news about our wonderful sport.
The LBMQ's final four are now set, as the division finals began last Sunday. The Acton Vale Castors are still in the running after eliminating the Saint-Jean Pirates in a highly emotional series. The defending champions now face Montreal as their next challenge. The Jets have won the first two games so far, and the next matchup is s -
Kirill Marchenko’s (questionable) message to Don Waddell ahead of the season
via dose.ca
Kirill Marchenko's name was all over the rumor mill this summer.
And things haven't calmed down in recent days after it was reported that the player decided not to attend his team's golf tournament—even though he still has one year left on his current contract.
That said, Don Waddell seems to have wanted to calm the storm with his most recent statement about his forward.
According to Aaron Portzline, who covers the team in Columbus, Waddell said he met with Marchenko, who told him:“I -
TIFF Review: Josephine is a shattering experience
via laineygossip.com
There are certain films that will stick with you forever, once seen, they can never be forgotten. Beth de Araújo’s Josephine is such a film, an emotionally harrowing cinematic experience that is as tender as it is brutal. Josephine won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance earlier this year, and it’s no wonder. It’s an impossible film to dislodge from your brain, haunting and provoking and producing the kind of empathy Roger Ebert referenced when he called movies an “em -
Pete Alonso came to New York to stir up trouble
via dose.ca
Whether he meant to or not, Pete Alonso stirred up a storm in New York. It's as simple as that.
On Monday, Alonso got the crowd at Citi Field on its feet. He also—once again, despite himself—prompted fans to call for David Stearns's head.
If Alonso had returned—wearing an Orioles uniform—in April or May, the fans' reaction would have been different. But in September?
The Mets are out of the playoff race largely because David Stearns saw fit to replace Pete Alonso with&hel -
MC’s MUSIC LOUNGE: A Higher Frequency
via laineygossip.com
Three years after her debut full-length studio album Jaguar II and winning three Grammy awards, Victoria Monét is ready to launch her sophomore project Frequency of Love on October 2nd. This week is a big one for her with the release of a new single and the announcement of a headlining tour across North America that will run through the fall. There’s something fitting about Victoria calling the album Frequency of Love, as music has always had the ability to change the frequency at wh -
Arber Xhekaj on the attack: “It can happen,” says Martin St-Louis
via dose.ca
Could Arber Xhekaj do what he did once during the 2025–2026 season—play on offense?
The question was posed to Martin St-Louis during his press conference today. And the coach went further than I expected on the subject of Xhekaj.
Basically, the coach didn't rule it out.Could Arber Xhekaj play on offense this season?
“It's not something that scares me. Arber knows how to play hockey. To keep him in the lineup on certain nights, it's a possibility. But we still see him as a defen -
Center #2: Martin St-Louis Reveals His Criteria
via dose.ca
Who will be the Canadiens' No. 2 center, behind Nick Suzuki?
As long as Kent Hughes doesn't make any moves, the solutions will inevitably come from within the organization. We're talking about Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach, Oliver Kapanen, Phillip Danault, and Jake Evans.
This morning, Martin St-Louis was asked about this by reporters covering the team. What did he say?Basically, he mentioned that he has several options, but that the No. 2 center needs to be good at faceoffs and must be able to compl -
Sydney Sweeney did it again
via laineygossip.com
Sydney Sweeney and a new ad she stars in are at the centre of a controversy in the world of sports. The ad, which promotes a sports trading app called Novig, features Sydney, who appears completely nude for most of it, save for the coverage of sports gear – footballs, a helmet, a soccer ball, cleets, a glove, a golf club and so on, and of course, a cheeky pair of Novig boy shorts. While Sydney says the ad was about ‘embracing a fun idea to cut through the noise and put the focus back -
Arber Xhekaj: The Lack of Respect Costs $1.5 Million
via dose.ca
It's as if they're two people who refuse to break up, even though the love is gone. They take breaks, they threaten to break up, they break up, they get back together, they bicker…
But they're always still together.
Who am I talking about? You've probably guessed it: Arber Xhekaj and the Canadiens.
The Sheriff has signed a new one-year deal with the Canadiens in the last few hours, a deal that will pay him $1.5 million in 2026–27. He'll once again be eligible for restricted free age -
TIFF Review: John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell in Wild Horse Nine
via laineygossip.com
Playwright-cum-filmmaker Martin McDonagh is back to challenge everyone’s media literacy with his latest film, Wild Horse Nine. Like his feature film debut, In Bruges, it’s a two-hander centered on bad men contemplating their bad deeds and wondering what is left at the end of it all. Wild Horse Nine stars John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as Chris and Lee, respectively, a pair of CIA operatives in 1973 Chile, laying the groundwork for the military coup that will put General Pinochet in -
Kaiden Guhle: Expected to Return in Mid-October
via dose.ca
Everyone knows that defenseman Kaiden Guhle isn’t fully healthy.
Well, the Canadiens have finally provided details on what's in store for the left-hander, who underwent minor surgery on his adductor muscle earlier this summer.
This is exactly what our colleague Maxime Truman reported earlier this summer.
The timeline: a return in four to five weeks. Of course, that's assuming everything goes smoothly, since injuries can take longer to heal.
So, in an ideal world, that brings us to mid-Octo -
All the celebrities in NYC
via laineygossip.com
The Emmys were Monday night in Los Angeles, but everyone is in New York City. Verity stars Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway were both out and about in the big apple yesterday; I wonder if they’re doing advance press for Verity? That press tour has to be starting soon, the film opens in a couple weeks. But also, Jennifer Lawrence was outside amidst a relatively quiet year. She’ll return as Katniss for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in November, but that’s probably just -

The Montreal Alouettes Foundation invites football fans and enthusiasts of Montreal sports history to a special evening celebrating the 80th anniversary of this iconic franchise. The event will be an opportunity to revisit the defining moments that have shaped the Alouettes' identity, all while supporting a good cause.

Junior Caminero should be the American League MVP
via dose.ca
The Houston Astros are currently fighting for a playoff spot, and if they were to miss the playoffs, it would certainly hurt Yordan Alvarez's chances of winning the American League MVP award.
But even if the Texas team were to qualify for the postseason, that honor should go to Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Just last night (Tuesday), the 23-year-old sensation hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning to give his team the win against the Sacramento Athletics. It was the young slugger's -
Window of Opportunity: The Canadiens Are the NHL’s Top-Ranked Team
via dose.ca
At times, The Athletic's rankings have infuriated Habs fans this summer.
But based on what was just presented this morning, I don't think Montreal fans will have any reason to be upset as training camp gets underway.
Why? Because the Habs are ranked highly in an article that ranks the NHL's windows of opportunity.
Scott Wheeler and Dom Luszczyszyn created a chart that ranks teams based on their present (the horizontal axis) and future (the vertical axis).
And as you can see, the Habs are right u -
Intro for September 16, 2026
via laineygossip.com
Dear Gossips,Can you hear that sound? It’s the sound of a million gossip hounds howling with delight as Tom Cruise gave an interview to GQ, his first cover profile with that magazine in twenty years, and it is a SCREAM. It’s entertaining in the way that only Tom Cruise is, which is to say—this man lives on a different plane of reality and reconciling his world to ours is impossible. Ask him literally anything and he will redirect the conversation to talking about making movies. -
The NFL refuses to comment on allegations of interference by the Broncos in the Drew Brees case
via dose.ca
The situation involving the Denver Broncos and Drew Brees is raising questions within the NFL. Ahead of the AFC Championship Game, reports emerged of contact between the franchise and the former quarterback, even though he was still listed as officially retired by the New Orleans Saints.
Faced with the risk of a potential violation of the “tampering” rules, the question was posed directly to the NFL: Does the Broncos' alleged conduct constitute a violation of the rules?
The league, f -
Paloma Sandoval is just getting started. Meet Vancouver's rising star stylist
via vancouversun.com
Paloma Sandoval can’t quit Vancouver. The 24-year-old fashion stylist and model has tried. She has moved to Los Angeles and New York City for work, but she keeps finding her way back to B.C.“I tried to live in these other places, and I always go back home because I come here (L.A.) and I feel like I can’t breathe,” she says of Los Angeles, where we were meeting on the rooftop of the Roosevelt Hotel. The fact that the model, content creator and stylist — who counts ac -
Connor Hellebuyck is expected to miss the start of the Jets’ training camp
via dose.ca
The Connor Hellebuyck situation is shaping up to be complicated.
The player had agreed to stay in Winnipeg long-term a few years ago (which helped the Jets avoid a rebuild), and his recent trade request wasn't a major public issue this summer.
In some respects, it was possible to find ways not to hold it against him.
But since then, he's gone public to ask to be traded… and we're now learning that the goaltender isn't expected to report to the Jets' training camp (according to Darren Dreg -
The Blue Jays couldn’t have had a worse night
via dose.ca
The Blue Jays couldn’t have had a worse night.
Yesterday, at home against the Detroit Tigers, the Toronto team chose the worst possible moment to fall apart.
At this point in the race for the playoffs, every moment is the worst possible time to fall apart—that said… but you get the point.
The Blue Jays lost 10-1, but it goes beyond the pathetic performance they put on for the fans in attendance.
On a bullpen day, the guys ran out of gas. And good old Michael Lorenzen, in parti -
No no-trade clause for Alex Newhook: perfect for the expansion
via dose.ca
I guess the Canadiens’ offseason has finally begun. Hehe.
Several months after signing Ivan Demidov and Jakub Dobes, the Canadiens have recently signed Zachary Bolduc, Chris Kreider, Martin St-Louis, Arber Xhekaj, and Alex Newhook in the last few days.
Yeah, things have been pretty busy the last few days.
Xhekaj's contract helps the team get better aligned for this season, and Newhook's contract provides clarity for next year. And in both cases, that can be helpful.
Especially for Kirill M -
The Broncos took a real beating
via dose.ca
The Denver Broncos had a tough night to kick off their 2026 season.
Facing the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, Sean Payton's team lost 31-10 in a game where several aspects of their play did not go as planned. (Denver Broncos
)
This first game for the Denver Broncos was highly anticipated following a 2025 season that had taken the team all the way to the AFC Championship. Bo Nix's return to the starting quarterback position was also one of the main points of interest in this matchup. -
Cutter Gauthier (finally) signs a contract with the Ducks
via dose.ca
It's (finally) settled.
After months of negotiations, the Anaheim Ducks have finally reached an agreement with Cutter Gauthier. He had still not signed a contract for the upcoming season.
It was well known that the forward, who couldn't sign a hostile offer, was asking for a lot. He wanted a big salary… and he's just signed a nice deal.
We're talking about a six-year contract that will pay him $13.5 million per year. The total value is therefore $81 million.
The Ducks made the announcemen -
Alex Newhook: Kent Hughes selected him for his core group

The signing of forward Alex Newhook really came out of nowhere earlier this evening.
We hadn't even recovered from the discussions surrounding Arber Xhekaj's signing when the Montreal Canadiens threw another curveball with Newhook's contract extension.
The Habs' No. 15 is under contract for four more seasons at $4.5 million per year, starting after the 2026–2027 season.
