After a rough patch in which concerns about his health surfaced, Paul Skenes's most recent start had been reassuring, as he pitched six scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres on August 25.
But last night (Tuesday), doubts quickly resurfaced as the Pittsburgh Pirates starter struggled early in the game against the San Francisco Giants, allowing five runs in four and two-thirds innings.
The Giants attacked Skenes in the first two innings, forcing him to throw a total of 49 pitches. The pit

The Blue Jays and the Tiebreaker: A Breakdown
via dose.ca
The Toronto Blue Jays have just won a huge series against the Cleveland Guardians. Not only have the Blue Jays moved within half a game of the final “best second-place” spot, but they've also secured the tiebreaker against the Guardians in the standings.
So if the two teams are tied after 162 games, Toronto would be ahead of Cleveland.
But the work is far from over. The Jays' final month of the regular season will see them face the Baltimore Orioles, the Detroit Tigers, and the Texas -
Trevor Zegras: His Photo with a Reporter Is Causing a Stir
via dose.ca
Trevor Zegras was photographed at the U.S. Open yesterday. And it's causing quite a stir on social media.
Why? Because standing next to him was a reporter whose job is to cover the activities of his team, the Philadelphia Flyers. That's why it's causing such a stir.
Here's the photo in question of the player, who recently signed a four-year contract to stay in Pennsylvania.

The Mystery Behind the Delay in the Announcement of Broadcasting Rights
via dose.ca
It's now official: TVA Sports will broadcast 32 Canadiens games per season for the next 12 seasons.
We know that Amazon will air seven Canadiens games (here's this year's list, by the way) and that the other 45 games will be on RDS, which will therefore broadcast the majority of the games.
As for the rest, it'll be business as usual for Canadiens fans: the playoffs will be on TVA Sports, and events like the draft will also be on Quebecor.
The news from TVA Sports (which is good for Quebec's medi -
Adley Rutschman: Two Home Runs in His Return to Baltimore
via dose.ca
Last night, Adley Rutschman was back in Baltimore for the first time since the trade that sent him to the Red Sox.
Naturally, there was a lot of emotion in the air.
The catcher received a warm welcome from the Orioles organization and Baltimore fans before his first at-bat.
And he managed to channel his emotions to hit a long ball just seconds after the tribute—even though he isn't 100% physically.
Adley Rutschman received a standing ovation from the fans in Baltimore in his first game bac -
Kaiden Guhle: A Reassuring Update, But…
via dose.ca
The Kaiden Guhle situation is concerning.
On Tuesday, we reported—based on footage obtained by our colleague Patrick Guillet—that Kaiden Guhle was not practicing with the rest of the team on the ice.
He was on the ice wearing a tracksuit, which is treatment normally reserved for injured players.🤔 Is Kaiden Guhle (already) injured? #gohabsgo pic.twitter.com/3P1ehosiww

Aaron Ward would like to see Alex Newhook with an “A”

With Brendan Gallagher’s departure, a spot is now open on the Canadiens’ leadership group.
Nick Suzuki obviously wears the “C,” and Mike Matheson already has an “A.” Now it remains to be seen who should round out the group.

The NHL’s salary cap could soon reach $150 million
via dose.ca
Yesterday, the idea of an NHL player earning $30 million per season in a few years might have seemed completely crazy.
It may be much less crazy than we think.
Alan Walsh recently predicted that we could see contracts reach $30 million annually within four years. As my colleague Raphael Simard pointed out yesterday, however, the salary cap would have to rise to at least $150 million for a player to earn that much.
Now, that famous $150 million figure has just resurfaced.

A player comparable to Zachary Bolduc complicates negotiations, according to David Ettedgui
via dose.ca
Zachary Bolduc is still without a contract, and—slowly but surely—the clock is starting to tick against both sides.
The Canadiens' training camp begins on September 16. That leaves Kent Hughes and the Bolduc camp with less than two weeks to find common ground.
According to David Ettedgui, a contract signed elsewhere in the NHL would have actually complicated the negotiations.
Specifically, Mavrik Bourque's contract.
Speaking on BPM Sports, Ettedgui explained that Bourque—who he -
The Blue Jays defeat the Guardians in a crucial series
via dose.ca
Today, the Blue Jays and the Guardians faced off in a game that was very, very important for the standings. The tiebreaker for the playoffs was also on the line.
After all, the Guardians started the day 1.5 games behind the Blue Jays, who were trying to close the gap in the standings.
In any case, the Guardians were set to end the day in a playoff spot, ahead of teams like the Rangers, the Orioles, and the Blue Jays.
The Guardians were the first to score. In the third inning, they loaded the bas -
Lane Hutson is among the top 3 contenders for the next Norris Trophy, according to Daily Faceoff
via dose.ca
Will Lane Hutson continue to improve this season, and if so, how far will he go?
After recording 66 and 78 points, respectively, in his first two NHL seasons, the 22-year-old defenseman is expected to boost his offensive output this year.
I believe we can expect Hutson to average at least one point per game this season and finish the campaign with at least 82 points.
If that's the case, Matt Larkin—who compiled a list of the top 10 potential candidates for the trophy awarded to the league' -
NHL TV Deal: TVA Sports Provides the Details

Today, we learned that seven Canadiens games will be broadcast on Prime on Wednesday nights during the 2026–2027 season.

Anthony Santander in the AAA?
It could happen as early as next week, if all goes well.
John Schneider said Anthony Santander is making progress:“He's hitting off live pitching down in Florida today and this weekend, and then the optimistic part of me says that if he can get into some rehab games in the AAA next week,” Santander could be back before the end of the season.

Michael Hage: “I’m convinced the Wings are interested.”

If you didn’t already know, the CH really likes Michael Hage. They hold him in very high regard.
Management seems unwilling to trade him, even though he could be part of a deal for Dylan Larkin or Kirill Marchenko, for example.
In Larkin's case, he reportedly still has the Habs on his no-trade list, but the Wings are said to have their eye on Hage.Could Michael Hage be the key piece in a trade for Dylan Larkin? pic.twitter.com/0Z8LW6g6nG

Right after it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex were moving back to England (and they are there now), there were all kinds of rumours about her return to acting – and a role on Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen was being speculated for the series’ third season.

Shohei Ohtani: There’s Still Hope We’ll See Him Pitch in 2026
via dose.ca
It's been two months since Shohei Ohtani last pitched. But since he's Shohei Ohtani, he's still hitting so well that he's considered one of the best players in the world.
The MVP should go to Pete Crow-Armstrong, but you get my point: he's still excellent.
