The New England Patriots may have to play without their top offensive receiver in their next game.
A.J. Brown, who
was playing his first official game with his new team on Wednesday, left the game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an injury to his right ankle.
According to reports by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the wide receiver appears to have suffered a sprain. Initial examinations are reassuring, however, as X-rays revealed no fractures.
The exact severity of the injury, however, remai

Quitting Hockey: Mike Matheson Might Never Have Joined the Habs
via dose.ca
Since joining the Montreal Canadiens, Mike Matheson has been a reliable presence on the Habs' defensive corps, both offensively and defensively.
He's had his ups and downs, but for the past two seasons, he's masterfully stabilized the Habs' top six, logging a lot of strong minutes per game.
Among other things, this has allowed Lane Hutson to shine even brighter.
The Canadiens are therefore truly fortunate to have had Mike Matheson in their ranks for four seasons now.
As Matheson prepares to begi -
Chris Bassitt came back to haunt his former teammates
via dose.ca
Far from being in a position to secure a playoff spot, the Toronto Blue Jays aren't benefiting from a so-called favorable schedule. On the contrary, their recent trip to Sacramento, combined with the first game of their series against the Baltimore Orioles in Toronto, doesn't bode well.
Yesterday, in front of their home crowd, the Jays fell 7-4 to a team that sits behind them in the standings. Chris Bassitt and the Orioles kicked off their visit to Toronto with a fairly convincing win.
Bassitt, -
OHL Record Trade: 17 Draft Picks in Exchange for a Single Player
via dose.ca
Trades in the junior leagues—especially in the Canadian leagues—can often be very different from those we see in the National Hockey League.
Players with high potential—and sometimes others we don't quite know yet—are traded for absolutely mind-blowing returns.
Well, we witnessed a new record-breaking trade yesterday in the OHL.
The trade took place between the Brampton Steelheads and the Sudbury Wolves, with the Wolves acquiring forward Tanner Adams in exchange for 15 dr -
If you were Kent Hughes, would you target Kreider or Marchenko?
via dose.ca
So it seems that Chris Kreider, a “fan favorite” in Montreal since 2014—and THE player Trevor Timmins would have drafted in 2009 instead of Louis Leblanc, had it not been for those very same fans—is on the verge of returning to the East.
Rumor has it—with “rumor” primarily coming from Renaud Lavoie—that the Habs could be very interested in him, given that during his long stint in New York, he forged very close ties with some key figures on the Habs -
Matvei Michkov: “Ivan Demidov and I are very close”
via dose.ca
There will always be comparisons drawn between Matvei Michkov and Ivan Demidov.
Both players were viewed as top-three picks in their respective drafts, but they both slipped a few spots.
The two talented young Russians have fairly similar on-ice profiles and are one year apart in age, give or take a day. Off the ice, however, there are major differences.
However, the two compatriots often talk to each other, according to what Michkov said in a recent interview that can be heard on Reddit's hocke -
Owen Beck deserves to play for a top-tier club much more than Florian Xhekaj
via dose.ca
The big question as the Montreal Canadiens' training camp approaches is: Who will make the team?
Of course, one might wonder if any young players will break into the lineup by the start of the season.
On defense, we'll be keeping a close eye on David Reinbacher and, to a lesser extent, Adam Engstrom, while on offense, Owen Beck and Florian Xhekaj could very well earn spots on the roster after the preseason.
Grant McCagg discussed Florian and Beck by breaking down both players' statistics and rea -
Overpaying for the right player: Marco D’Amico would be willing to do so for Marchenko
via dose.ca
Kirill Marchenko has certainly been one of the most polarizing figures in the NHL for several months now.
Of course, there have been rumors linking him to the Montreal Canadiens, since the “fit” is practically perfect—or almost.
The thought of him on the same line as Ivan Demidov certainly has fans salivating.
The team needs a productive player (ideally a big, physical one) for the top six, and Marchenko seems to check all the boxes.
We know Kent Hughes has said the club would -
MLB in Brief: The Plan with Trey Yesavage | The Carlos Correa Case
via dose.ca
The Plan with Trey Yesavage
We could see him in the MLB in less than two weeks. It depends on how he feels.
Trey Yesavage had a good bullpen session yesterday, reaching 93 mph and throwing 30 pitches, according to John Schneider. He'll rejoin the Jays, throw a bullpen session on Sunday, and be set for a rehab assignment sometime next week. It's possible he'll need only one rehab start in the minors. To be determined based on how he feels and performs

Chris Kreider: A factor in the Habs’ favor (unlike the Bruins)
via dose.ca
Chris Kreider in Montreal… yes or no?
For me, the answer is yes. Because I would NEVER say no to the idea of adding a guy who can help the team win games on the ice.
But not everyone feels the same way, either. And that's okay, too.
That said, the player—who's currently a free agent—needs to find a new team before the start of next season. And we've heard the Bruins' name mentioned in connection with this… because he knows the place and because Boston is looking for for -
VIDEO: Gavin McKenna scores for Michigan at the rookie camp in Toronto
via dose.ca
All right. That’s it!
Toronto Maple Leafs fans are going to go crazy when they see what Gavin McKenna did today at the team's rookie camp.
And honestly… it's no wonder!
The player who was selected with the first overall pick in the last draft wowed everyone when he pulled out all the stops to score a goal against Michigan during an intrasquad game.
He raced in behind the opposing goalie's net before beating him with a move that's probably the hardest to pull off in a game situ -

Jesus Sanchez: The Blue Jays Say Goodbye to Him

The story of the day for the Blue Jays was supposed to be that Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer, two close friends, were set to face off in a crucial playoff matchup.

The Two Areas the Canadiens Need to Improve to Succeed in the Playoffs
via dose.ca
The Canadiens continue to make progress.
They were eliminated in the conference finals during the most recent playoffs, and that's interesting because we can see that the team is improving year after year.
But…
But right now, you can't say the Habs have everything it takes to be one of the top contenders for the Stanley Cup. Renaud Lavoie spoke this morning (BPM Sports) about two elements that are incredibly important: the identity of the fourth line… and the much-discussed second -
Saoirse In Venice Brings Out the Soapbox In Me
via laineygossip.com
I can plead ignorance or busyness as much as anyone else, but honestly when I read that Saoirse Ronan was at the Venice Film Festival for Orrizonti, I assumed it was an Italian film and went on to obsess over her outfit. But as usual with Saoirse, the truth is way more interesting, and I feel bad for accidentally almost not investigating further.Orrizonti, which I am betting to myself means ‘Horizons’, is the colloquial short nickname for “Orrizonti Corti Fuori Concorso E -
Celebrity Social Media, September 11, 2026
via laineygossip.com
The universe is giving us a lesson today: people can surprise you. Leave space in your heart for whimsy. Who knew that Aaron Rogers would appear on the Not Just Football podcast and, completely unprompted, say (in regards to his engagement to Shailene Woodley), “But not a couple of days after that, she tells me, ‘You know, before we get married I gotta go f-ck this guy.” The quiet gasp from the two podcasters, the confusion. And now I have to begrudgingly stan Shailene Woo -
Cole Caufield’s (hilarious) reaction to his face in NHL 27
via dose.ca
The new NHL 27 game has been released, and it's making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The game's quality isn't as good as players would have liked, and that's led to (already) a lot of criticism of the game even though it just came out.
But that's just how it is with EA Sports. For several years now, it's been hard not to be disappointed when a new hockey game comes out…
In the game, let's not forget that the players' faces really stand out… and not necessarily in a good way. -
TIFF Review: Naomi Watts in The Housewife
via laineygossip.com
Back in 2016, Alyssa Hill’s post-Holocaust script, The Housewife, about the discovery and extradition of Hermine Braunsteiner Ryan from America to West Germany for war crimes, landed on the Blacklist. Ten years later, it has finally been made into a feature film, with Canadian filmmaker Ben Shirinian (best known for music videos, including some for the National Ballet of Canada), marking his feature directorial debut. Watching The Housewife, one can’t help but think this film would h -
Sonny Gray is considering retiring this winter
via dose.ca
Do you think the potential work stoppage facing Major League Baseball this winter will prompt some veterans to seriously consider retirement?
I think so, too.
On that note, it's interesting to note that Boston Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray said he doesn't know if he'll continue playing in 2027.
Alex Speier reported his comments. Basically, if his family wants him to retire ahead of next season, he won't think twice about it—he'll hang it up.Sonny Gray has not decided whether he will pitch nex -
The Wrap celebrates the Emmys

Myles Garrett Announces Some Bad News
via dose.ca
Myles Garrett was quick to admit that his physical condition was far from optimal.
In his first
appearance with the Los Angeles Rams, the star defensive player had a particularly difficult night during Friday's 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne.
Considered one of the NFL's best defensive players, Garrett recorded no tackles and had virtually no impact on the game. This was an unusual performance for a player entering his tenth
professional season.
The defensive back had, however, -
Petition: 20,000 signatures collected to reverse Formenton’s signing with Edmonton
via dose.ca
The Edmonton Oilers probably thought they had done their homework before signing Alex Formenton.
Apparently, that's not enough for some of their fans.
A petition calling on the organization to rescind the signing of the former NHL player had surpassed 20,000 signatures by Friday morning. Well…
The petition doesn't question the verdict itself; rather, it targets the Oilers' decision to offer him another chance in the NHL, as some fans believe the organization should have taken other factor -
Sandra Bullock’s Parenting Reality Gets Very Real
via laineygossip.com
Sandra Bullock is consistently open and candid in interviews, but took it to a new level in a TODAY show interview this week with Hoda Kotb, while promoting Practical Magic 2 with Nicole Kidman, when she revealed she’s ‘uber paranoid’ about her kids when they leave home, for depressingly obvious reasons. “I’m uber paranoid, and they will tell you. They’re like, ‘Mom, it’s gonna be fine.’ I’m like, ‘It’s not fine. It&rsq -
Blue Jays: The path to the playoffs isn’t complicated
via dose.ca
The 2026 season has been anything but easy for the Toronto Blue Jays, with injuries and underperformance derailing a campaign that had started out so promising.
But despite all these ups and downs, the Blue Jays can still hope to make the postseason. And the path to the playoffs is fairly straightforward: the Jays need to win one more game than their rivals in the standings.
Toronto enters the final 15 games of the regular season with a record of 73 wins and 74 losses, which puts the team one ga -

The Canadiens defenseman will have to work hard to try to earn a spot on the team at training camp. The Canadiens want to see him succeed this fall, but…
But if he doesn't earn his spot, he'll be sent down.
Everyone has an opinion on the matter, and just about everyone with the Canadiens has been touting his case to the media in recent weeks.
But since it's the results on the ice that will count, we're going to focus more on what we -

via dose.ca
The 2026 Major League Baseball season isn't over yet, but in two months, the free-agent market will open ahead of a potential—and likely—lockout. By then, the hot topic will be where ace pitcher Tarik Skubal will end up and how much he'll sign for on his next contract.
And just yesterday, Jeff Passan of ESPN shared insights on the upcoming free-agent market, and one thing that stands out is that if there is no salary cap (and there won't be), an MLB team could be willing to pay Skuba
