A Deep Cut Romance
via laineygossip.com
Cailee Spaeny was seen in New York yesterday on the set of Deep Cuts, the film adaptation of Canadian author Holly Brickley’s bestselling book. It’s a good, quick read – about two people who are brought together and then torn apart by music. This is a classic soundtrack friend and love story, cinematic from the first page.Initially Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler were supposed to star in the film, playing the lead characters, Percy and Joe. And Odessa A’zion was confirmed -

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu got married at a chateau in France – the photos are really dramatic and posh. Woody Harrelson is in one of the pictures (he did a reading) and the bride wore a dress designed by her sisters, who own the bridal line, Nicole + Felicia.
Now let’s talk about the music: Renee Rapp performed “At Last” then Brooklyn Soul got everyone on the dance floor then Loud Luxury (a DJ duo Liu met in university in Canada) took over. A live performer, a big band, an -
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is a finalist for a Gold Glove
via dose.ca
The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t have the season they’d hoped for. The team’s anemic offense is certainly one reason why.
But defensively, things were going well for the team.
In fact, with the Gold Glove nominations now announced, the team has five finalists, including Jose Soriano on the mound.
Brandon Valenzuela, Nathan Lukes, Andrés Giménez, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are the other four players in question.
The 2026 #BlueJays Gold Glove finalists (aka top-3 vote ge -
Ivan Demidov could lose his driver’s license
via dose.ca
Ivan Demidov is currently injured. And let's just say that's not his only problem.
According to a report by journalist Camille Payant (Journal de Montréal) this afternoon, Ivan Demidov is likely to lose his driver's license soon.
Why? Speeding is to blame.
Last Friday, a lawyer appeared in court to represent him. The goal? To ask a judge to cancel the payment of a traffic ticket he received this summer.
Basically, the Canadiens' director of player safety, Mitch Janhevich, paid the fine in -
New Vancouver music festival aims to provide 'something for everyone'
via vancouversun.com
Julian Lage is on a train going from work to work. It’s a perfect place to reach the acclaimed guitarist, who seems to be always on the move.Besides holding down a day gig as a professor at New York’s acclaimed The New School’s school of jazz and contemporary music, Lage’s night gigs include everything from his own groups to John Zorn’s New Masada Quartet and six-string duties in Bob Dylan’s Never Ending Tour band.He brings his quartet with bassist Jorge Roed -
Greta Gerwig’s colorful Narnia is here
via laineygossip.com
One of Netflix’s biggest gambles of all time comes in February of next year in the form of Greta Gerwig’s first post-Barbie project, Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. The trailer dropped yesterday, and it is certainly fantastical and colorful. I would have really liked to have an upbeat, family-friendly adventure film for the 2026 holidays, given that the other big releases of the holiday season are Dune: Part Three (downer) and Avengers: Doomsday (heard it’s a bummer). Oh w -
David Reinbacher won’t be playing tonight
via dose.ca
The Canadiens have just explained why David Reinbacher was recalled.
The team decided to call him up as a precaution, as reported by Anthony Martineau. He won't play tonight, so the lineup against the Capitals will be the same as the one we saw last night against Buffalo.
Except for the goalie, of course: Jakub Dobes will start.David Reinbacher will not play tonight.
His recall is purely a precautionary measure. Mike Matheson is still being evaluated on a day-to-day basis for a lower-body injury -
Bruno Mars takes the mic at Vancouver SkyTrain station before concerts
via vancouversun.com
SkyTrain riders may hear a familiar voice while pulling up to Vancouver’s Stadium-Chinatown station this week.Pop superstar Bruno Mars is the first musical artist to lend his smooth speaking voice to a SkyTrain station announcement, said TransLink. The singer kicks off a record-breaking five-show run at B.C. Don Mattingly Keeps His Job as Manager
via dose.ca
We'd been expecting this more and more, and now it's official: Don Mattingly has been named the Phillies' full-time manager.
Several sources had reported that Dave Dombrowski (president) and Preston Mattingly (general manager and Don's son) were going to officially name him this week.It finally happened this morning.
Mattingly, who had one more year left on his contract as bench coach, has signed a two-year deal as manager for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
The Phillies have signed Don Mattingly to -
Samuel Montembeault: His absence could last longer than initially announced
via dose.ca
Don't call it a goaltending controversy.
The Canadiens are currently counting on Jacob Fowler, who is playing well and inspiring his teammates. They're also counting on Jakub Dobes, who needs to find his footing again.
We can all agree that, heading into tonight's game, the pressure is on Dobes.Things will get more complicated when Samuel Montembeault returns. After all, the Canadiens won't want (unless something changes) to send Fowler back down…
They won't be able to send Jakub Dobes do -
All adventurous women do
via laineygossip.com
Whether you consider Lena Dunham the voice of a generation, or just “a voice” of “a generation”, or just a hack, it can’t be denied: she has pop culture power. Since Girls premiered, Lena Dunham has been the topic of endless conversation, a one-woman think-piece cottage industry. Is she a feminist? Is she reductive? Is she subversive? Is she a white feminist (derogatory)? Is she too privileged to see past her own nose? Is the hatred of her fueled by an undercurrent -
With Fowler, the CH dominates. With Dobes, they struggle.
via dose.ca
Let's dispel a myth right away that—for some reason I can't quite figure out—has persisted over the years: No, I don't actually prefer to see the Canadiens lose. And no, business isn't better when they lose. Quite the opposite!
I'd much rather settle into my office, coffee in hand, to tell you about Jacob Fowler's second straight win than have to sit down at my computer to write about Jakub Dobes's lackluster performance.
I also obviously prefer to be the bearer of good news (like Iv -
Shohei Ohtani will play tonight
via dose.ca
As recently as after Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday, the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers was considering benching his star player, Shohei Ohtani, for Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The California team had just lost 7-4 and was trailing 2-0 in the series. The Japanese player seemed out of sync at the plate, finishing with no hits in four at-bats and two strikeouts, struggling to make contact with fastballs in the 90 mph range and swinging at pitches well out -
Pedro before Behemoth!
via laineygossip.com
One of my lingering question marks for awards season is Behemoth!, the film about film composers written and directed by Tony Gilroy and starring Pedro Pascal. It premiered a couple weeks ago at the New York Film Festival to generally positive reviews, but so far, it doesn’t seem like it’s blowing people out of the water. Last night it screened at the BFI London Film Festival, though, so momentum is still building ahead of its December release date.Pedro Pascal looks foxy as always:P -
David Reinbacher Recalled by the Canadiens
via dose.ca
We expected this might happen, but now it's a reality.
David Reinbacher has been recalled by the Canadiens, who will play in Washington tonight. The team had only six healthy defensemen yesterday and decided this morning to call up a player who had a strong training camp and is a top prospect.
Makes sense. The Canadiens have recalled defenseman David Reinbacher from the Laval Rocket.

Stop thinking that Kirby Dach can change
via dose.ca
Kirby Dach has been in the NHL since 2019. He's entering his eighth season in the league and his fifth in Montreal.
At this point, if he had wanted to change and become a player who's tough to play against—as they say—he would have done so. He would have started making that transition.
But he hasn't.
If what happened last spring (he was heavily criticized by fans) didn't allow him to transform into the player Martin St-Louis needs, nothing will.
We have to accept that.

Intro for October 14, 2026
via laineygossip.com
Dear Gossips,I am still so mad about Shane Gillis hosting SNL for the THIRD time and continuing to be SO bad it—like literally each of his monologues is TERRIBLE—and like Lainey, I am clinging to Rosalía’s performances as an all-time highlight. (Related, have you seen Rosalía’s performance of “Berghain” at the BRIT Awards from earlier this year? Her stage artistry is so great that it is a seamless moment when Björk emerges, and Björk ba -
Bruno Mars plays five shows at B.C. Place in Vancouver: What to know before you go
via vancouversun.com
Canadian fans really love Bruno Mars — so much so that the American singer has sold out five shows at B.C. Place this week on The Romantic Tour. That breaks all previous attendance records for the Vancouver venue.Mars previously sold out the same number of concerts at Rogers Centre in Toronto from May 23 to 31. Those numbers make it clear that the demand to catch the artist and his crack backing band The Hooligans is huge. His fourth album, The Romantic, entered the Canadian charts at numb -

Legal Setback for Tyreek Hill
via dose.ca
A Miami jury reached a verdict Tuesday in the civil lawsuit between Tyreek Hill and his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. The NFL wide receiver was found liable on two counts of assault and battery, while the other eight claims against him were dismissed.
This decision brings an end to a highly publicized legal case involving the former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins player. The jurors awarded Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages. However, they refused to award her punitive damages.

Yet the recipe was simple
via dose.ca
Last night, the Canadiens beat the Sabres. Was it easy? No. Buffalo is a good team, and at times, the Habs were their own worst enemy. One example that comes to mind is Adam Engstrom's deflected shots into his own net.
But the 4-3 shootout win was well-deserved.
It would have been better to win in regulation because regulation wins count as a tiebreaker at the end of the season… but we'll worry about that in March and April. And two points in a shootout are better than a loss.

Freddy Peralta Sinks the Guardians
via dose.ca
After a loss in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, the Rays were looking to bounce back.
To do so, Freddy Peralta took the mound last night at Tropicana Field to face Parker Messick and the Guardians.
Neither pitcher allowed an earned run. Peralta pitched six innings and has really been in his zone lately.
A great acquisition by the Rays at the trade deadline.

Zachary Bolduc is becoming indispensable
via dose.ca
It didn't take Zachary Bolduc long to make his presence felt this season.
After just six games, the Quebec native already has four points, including two goals. But beyond his offensive production, it's his impact on the Canadiens' results that's really starting to draw attention.
Tonight, against the Buffalo Sabres, Bolduc once again played the hero in the shootout, helping the Canadiens come away with the win.
For the second consecutive game, he scored the game-winning goal in the shootout.IT'S -
