B.C. Ferries is outlawing smoking and staying inside your vehicle
via vancouversun.comThe days of taking a smoke break on the outdoor deck of a B.C. Ferry will soon be over.
On Jan. 22, 2018, all B.C. Ferries properties, including vessels and terminals, will become smoke-free environments.
Last September, the B.C. government amended regulations for no-smoking buffer zones around any doorway, intake or open window to any public or workplace from three metres to six metres. The ferry corporation says due to physical space limitations, the new regulation means all vessels must -

'It's a devastation': Broken net releases thousands of Atlantic salmon into ocean near B.C.
via vancouversun.comMembers of the public in Washington state are being asked to help mop up a spill of Atlantic salmon from an imploded net holding 305,000 fish at a Cooke Aquaculture fish farm near Cypress Island.
Washington state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife is urging the public to catch as many of the fish as possible after Lummi fishers out for chinook on Sunday near Samish were surprised to pull up the Atlantic salmon — escapees that turned up in their nets again on Monday.

Surrey murder victim identified as Edmonton man, 19
via vancouversun.comHomicide investigators identified a man found dead in a Surrey alley last weekend as Tanner Krupa, a 19-year-old from Edmonton.
Surrey Mounties had responded to a report of an altercation in the 6900-block 127A Street just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to Cpl. Frank Jang, a spokesman with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Krupa, who had succumbed to “injuries consistent with homicide,” according to a release by Jang.

Tourist hit and killed while taking photos at B.C. road pullout
via vancouversun.comPolice are investigating after a 54-year-old woman from Quebec was hit and killed at a popular road pullout just east of Field.
RCMP say a northbound passenger car crossed into a southbound pullout on Takkakaw Falls Road on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the driver hit and killed the victim, who was taking photos while visiting the province with her husband, and narrowly missed a second pedestrian before hitting the victim’s vehicle.
They say alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

Surrey pastor golfs 100 holes over nine hours for charity
