IISc’s FSID appoints first industry leader as CEO under new model

The Indian Institute of Science's FSID has appointed Omprakash Subbarao as its new CEO, signaling a pivotal transition to an industry-driven governance structure. With aspirations to evolve into a self-sustaining entity, FSID aims to spur innovation and incubation by undertaking a thousand industry initiatives and fostering three hundred deep-tech startups, while enhancing collaboration with corporations and MSMEs for tangible outcomes.

It also calls for these official lists to be built into the census portal so that people can select their caste from a fixed list rather than enter names themselves. The resolution said caste details should be collected for these communities in the same manner as data for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
