Santa Ana winds, dry conditions in Southern California prompt concerns about wildfires
Drier than usual conditions have some meteorologists concerned about the Santa Ana wind event projected to affect much of Southern California by the middle of this week.
While these wind events are not atypical for the region this time of the year, there is usually some December rain to help provide a little moisture, said Kathy Hoxsie, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Los Angeles.

Tonight, you can watch a lunar eclipse, or at least try to
As you sneak some late-night Thanksgiving leftovers, take a moment to marvel at the full moon. Do you notice anything different?
It’s subtle, but Sunday night on the west coast or early Monday elsewhere, the full moon should appear a bit darker than usual. That’s because you’re witnessing a penumbral lunar eclipse, a celestial occurrence in which the moon dips behind Earth’s faint, outer shadow, or penumbra.
