bp has announced its plans to build a hydrogen plant in the Northeast of England that could produce up to 500MW of hydrogen by 2030.

TotalEnergies has launched a 55MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in France – its largest in the country.
Located Northeast of Gien, the 75-hectare plant will prove enough annual electricity for 38,000 people and prevent more than 550,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.
The project has been built with participative financing of around €2.2 million (£1.8m), which 212 local residents of Loiret contributed towards.

Customers of two failed suppliers transferred to ScottishPower
ScottishPower has been appointed to take on customers of recently collapsed Entice Energy and Orbit Energy.
It was last Thursday that the two energy firms announced their exit from the market leaving more than 70,000 customers behind.
Money domestic customers of Entice Energy and Orbit Energy have paid into their accounts will be protected, Ofgem said.
The customers are expected to be contacted soon by their new supplier.

European greenhouse gases soared in second quarter
Greenhouse gas emissions of countries in Europe rose by 18% in the second quarter of 2021, compared with the same period last year.
That’s according to a new report by Eurostat, which estimates that greenhouse gas emissions totalled 867 million tonnes from April to June this year.
The authors of the analysis suggest the economic rebound after Covid-19 restrictions were lifted was the main driver for that increase.
