B.C. anesthesiologist facing second sexual assault change after moving his practice
DELTA, B.C. — An anesthesiologist in British Columbia is facing a second charge of sexual assault.
Police in Delta, B.C., say Dr. Olumuyiwa Bamgbade, who operated a pain clinic in that community before relocating it to neighbouring Surrey, faces another charge of sexual assault over an alleged incident in 2019.
Bamgbade was first charged last year with sexual assault in Surrey after RCMP say a woman reported being assaulted while she was having a physical exam.

VANCOUVER — Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. announced it has closed its acquisition of U.S. firm IAA Inc. after a contentious few months that saw shareholders divided over the deal.
Shareholders of the Vancouver-based auction company voted to approve the deal last Tuesday, as did shareholders in IAA, an automotive salvage company.
Several Ritchie Bros. shareholders had expressed concerns about the risks posed by the deal and had made it clear they planned to vote against it.

Liberal motion seeking files from Meta, Google ‘undemocratic’: chamber of commerce
OTTAWA — The head of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce says a Liberal committee motion seeking internal documents from Google and Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is “undemocratic.”
CEO Perrin Beatty says in a letter to the House of Commons heritage committee that the proposed motion poses a serious threat to the privacy of Canadians, especially those who oppose the government’s Online News Act.

Conservatives push motion to bring Telford before committee on foreign interference
OTTAWA — The federal Conservatives are trying to force Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s top aide to answer questions about allegations the Chinese government interfered in Canada’s last two federal elections.
The Liberals have been filibustering a House of Commons committee since early March to prevent a vote on a Conservative motion calling for Katie Telford to appear.
So today, the Conservatives are bringing a similar motion to the entire House.

Three people stabbed at high school in the Halifax area, student in custody
HALIFAX — A student was arrested after three people were stabbed Monday morning at a high school in the Halifax area, police say.
The three victims were taken to hospital for treatment, and the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
Police remained at the scene at Charles P. Allen High School in the suburb of Bedford.
Halifax Regional Police initially reported that four people had been stabbed, but they issued a statement lowering the number to three.
