• Pipe Bombs Found In Grass Valley

    GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) — The Grass Valley Police Department says an anonymous tip led officers to several pipe bombs located inside a home.
    Police arrested Mary Dalton of Grass Valley for possession of a destructive device.

    Placer County Sheriff’s Office’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal assisted and rendered the items safe.
    Dalton is expected to appear in court this week.
  • Man Injured In South Sacramento Shooting Upgraded To Stable Condition

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Doctors have upgraded the condition of one of the four people shot Friday night in south Sacramento from critical to serious.
    One woman was killed in that shooting. Family and friends plan to gather Sunday night to remember her.

    The other people shot, including a young boy, are in stable condition.
    Police have not released the names of any suspects and they have not given a motive.

  • Modesto Fire Rescues Man From Car Crashed Into Canal

    MODESTO (CBS13) — Modesto Fire crews responded to a call of a car that left the road and went into a canal on Friday night.
    When they arrived on the scene, they found a man sitting on the roof of his submerged vehicle.

    Firefighters used a ladder to reach the man and bring him to safety.
    The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

    Raindrops fell nearly all day into night, ruining the planned photo opp for some senior balls.

    SONORA (CBS13) — CHP says a drunk driver caused chaos in the small town of Jamestown. That’s in Tuolumne County.
    Officers say 20-year-old Addam Smith drove onto a sidewalk and sideswiped a parked car.
    They say he then hit supports for a deck, causing it to fall on the Honda.
    But it didn’t end there.Officers say Smith then continued to drive on the sidewalk and slammed into awning supports at a restaurant. He then hit a Jeep before stopping his vehicle, they say.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Weather is forcing Natomas and Inderkum High Schools to move their graduations.
    Grads will now walk the stage at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento.

    VACAVILLE (CBS13) — Fast-thinking retail workers are to thank for putting a wanted felon back behind bars.
    Police say workers at one of the Vacaville Outlet stores recognized a woman this past Wednesday who had reportedly robbed a similar store in the Bay Area recently.

    MODESTO (CBS13) — Modesto Police have located and arrested a murder suspect.
    Detectives say they arrested 37-year-old Joseph Chapman on Friday night during a traffic stop.

    Chapman was wanted in connection with the murder of Christina Hill.
    Hill’s body was found in the driveway of a business on May 13.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The family of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark V. Stasyuk accepted a posthumous degree on his behalf Saturday morning.
    This was during Sac State’s College of Health & Human Services graduation ceremony.

  • Fire Displaces Four In Sacramento

    ROSEMONT (CBS13) — Metro Fire battled a house fire early Saturday morning on Tywood Court.
    That’s in the Rosemont area of Sacramento County.

    Firefighters say they arrived to find heavy flames coming from the home.
    Four people were displaced by the blaze. They received assistance from the Red Cross.
