  • Chase Involving Stolen SMUD Truck Ends In Gunfire

    WILTON (CBS13) — A high-speed chase led to an officer-involved shooting in Wilton Friday afternoon.
    Police say the suspect assaulted a SMUD crew near Grant Line and Waterman Road then hopped into their truck and took off, speeding through the backroads of Wilton, trying to avoid police.

    ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Elk Grove Police responded to a stabbing at a residence that injured two victims Friday evening.
    Officers said the stabbing happened in the 9400 block of Dantley Court. The suspect was located by responding officers and detained.

    5:20 p.m. Update: Firefighters successfully recovered all parties from the water.
    CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — Metro Firefighters are performing a water rescue to help a woman and child who are stranded on an island in the American River.
    Firefighters said the husband is on a boat nearby but is having mechanical issues and is unable to access the pair.
    Metro is currently on the scene to recover the woman and child.
    The incident was called in around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

  • Sheriff: No One Hurt In Deputy-Involved Shooting After Carjacking Chase

    WILTON (CBS13) — Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to a carjacking of a SMUD lineman Friday afternoon that ended with a deputy-involved shooting south of Elk Grove.
    Deputies said a SMUD lineman’s vehicle was carjacked at 3:14 p.m. while on the job at Grant Line and Waterman. The suspect took off with the truck but was spotted a short time later by authorities and a pursuit started at Grant Line Road and Highway 99.

    MERCED COUNTY (CBS13) — Police are looking for a car that may have been involved in a fatal hit and run in Merced County.
    California Highway Patrol says it happened on Saturday, April 13 when the body of a woman was found along SB 99 south of South Avenue. That is near the town of Delhi.
    The coroner says the woman is 30-year-old Stefanie Newbold of Modesto and that she died after being hit by a vehicle.

  • 2 Suspects Arrested In Connection To February Residential Burglary

    ANTELOPE (CBS13) — Two men are in custody in connection to a residential burglary on February 26.
    Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the Antelope area in February after the homeowner said she was burglarized earlier in the day. Through a review of surveillance video, deputies found the burglar was armed with a handgun and at one point held the firearm to the head of the victim’s dog. The dog was not injured, and deputies the suspect left the scene,
