    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Two of the three Thrift Town stores in the Sacramento area will be closing in the coming weeks.
    The Stockton Boulevard and Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael locations are the stores slated to be closed. Feb. 23 will be the last day for the Stockton Boulevard store, according to a banner posted to the location’s Facebook page, while the Fair Oaks Boulevard store is closing on March 2.

    NORTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) – A pair of young bear cubs managed to get into a North Shore home and made themselves right at home – and it was all caught on video.
    According to the BEAR League, two yearling cubs managed to get into a North Lake Tahoe home over the weekend through an unlocked window. One of the cubs went for the fridge, while the other went to check out the bedroom.The mama bear was waiting outside the whole time.

  • Search On For Driver Who Hit Stockton Man, Took Off

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – Detectives are asking for help in finding the driver who hit a pedestrian in Stockton and took off.
    The incident happened back on Feb. 8. California Highway Patrol’s Stockton division says, just before 7:30 p.m., a 27-year-old man was walking in the crosswalk of W. Alpine Avenue at Franklin Avenue when car drove through and hit him.
    Authorities say the driver kept on going; the man was left with major injuries.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Animal shelters in California may start waiving adoption fees for all Veterans.
    Senate Bill 245 would ban public shelters from charging fees for dogs, cats, or other animals if the person adopting the pet has a valid ID or Driver’s License with the word “Veteran” printed on it. In order to qualify for that license or ID a person must apply and verify his or her veteran’s status, plus pay a fee.

    Officer Kela Payne and K9 Ronin have completed their certification and have joined the department’s K9 unit.
    Officer Payne is the first female Modesto police officer to be a certified dog handler.

    MODESTO (CBS13) – Giant river rodents are damaging water projects and infrastructure in the San Joaquin Delta, officials say.
    The Department of Fish and Wildlife is now asking for nearly $2 million to track and kill the rodents, known as nutria or coypu.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An injured bobcat is back in the wild Monday after local veterinarians took an unorthodox approach to treat his burns — fish skin.
    Born from destruction, comes an innovated approach to treating four-legged Camp Fire victims.
    The bobcat suffered severe burns in the Camp Fire in November. A team of veterinarians from all over helped nurse him back to health using tilapia skin as bandages.
