  • Hours-Old Newborn Found Abandoned Along Rural Central California Road; Search On For Mother

    MADERA (CBS13) – Just hours after being born, a newborn was left abandoned in near-freezing temperatures along a country road.
    The Madera County Sheriff’s Office says, just before 4:30 a.m. Monday, deputies got a report about an infant found abandoned along the 35000 block of Avenue 13 1/2 in the middle of the road.
    The newborn, who was only hours old, was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital and is currently being treated at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

  • Man, 25, Found Shot Dead At Oakdale Apartment Complex; Suspect Arrested

    OAKDALE (CBS13) – A 27-year-old man is under arrest after a shooting that left another man dead at an Oakdale apartment complex over the weekend.
    Oakdale police say officers responded to the Bonnie Villa Apartments along Poplar Street just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday to investigate a shooting. A 25-year-old man who had been shot was soon found.

    MOUNT DIABLO (KPIX 5) — New details emerged Sunday evening about the man who was killed when his plane crashed into Mount Diablo sometime Friday night.
    Hikers found the wreckage of 49-year-old Chris de Bar’s plane in a remote area of Mt. Diablo just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

  • Bobcat Burned In Camp Fire Nursed Back To Health, Released Back Into Wild

    AUBURN (CBS13) – A bobcat badly burned in the Camp Fire has been released into the wild after being nursed back to health.
    Gold Country Wildlife Rescue received the animal last November.
    The cat suffered fifth-degree burns down to the bone on the pads of all four paws.
    Volunteer veterinarians treated the burns with tilapia fish skin and acupuncture.

    LINCOLN (CBS13) – A 25-year-old woman was arrested in Lincoln after police say she tried to use counterfeit money at Walmart.
    The incident happened Sunday night at the Walmart in Lincoln.
    Police say officers responded to the store a little before 9:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a woman trying to pass some counterfeit money. Officers confronted the woman – 25-year-old Lincoln resident Ashley Lae – and found she had counterfeit currency.
