• Armed Suspects Rob Riverbank Wells Fargo In Takeover-Style Robbery, Hit Bicyclist While Making Getaway

    RIVERBANK (CBS13) – Officers are looking for the suspects who robbed a Riverbank bank in a takeover-style robbery late Tuesday morning.
    The incident happened at the Wells Fargo along Oakdale Road. Stanislaus County authorities say two suspects entered the bank and told everyone inside to get down.
    Both suspects were apparently armed with handguns and had their faces covered.

  • Sacramento’s Identity Boutique’s Mobile Van Stolen

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police are investigating after a mobile boutique van was stolen.
    The owners of Identity Boutique say their van for the shops’ men’s mobile boutique was stolen outside their store location on J Street between the hours of 6 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.
    The owners say there was merchandise inside the van when it was stolen and tell us a theft like this could be devastating to their small business.

  • Disabled Veteran’s Van, Dog Stolen In Yuba City

    YUBA CITY (CBS13) – Police are asking for help in trying to find a disabled Yuba City veteran’s stolen dog.
    Yuba City authorities wrote in a post late Monday that a veteran’s van was stolen. The vet’s dog was inside the van at the time.
    The van was later found in Yuba County and is no longer operable – and the dog was nowhere to be found.

  • Lodi Police Say Drone Helped Them Catch Robbery Suspects

    LODI (CBS13) – Police say they used a high-tech tool to help nab two suspected robbers – a drone.
    It happened around 1:15 p.m. Monday on Kettleman Lane in Lodi.
    Police say the suspects, identified as Elisa Ornelas and Jesus Mejia stole two duffle bags from a business then tried to hide under a tarp in the backyard of a home.
    That’s when the drone was sent up and tracked them down.
    Both were taken into custody.
    No word yet on what was found inside the duffle bags.

    PG&E cut the electricity to customers in the Sierra foothills and across 12 counties over fears that high winds could fuel a firestorm.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Bongo calf is now recovering with her mom at the Sacramento Zoo, after an escaped from her exhibit on Sunday.
    The Bongo, or antelope, appeared to have jumped over the exhibit fence, causing zoo staff to evacuate visitors. They’re still trying to figure out how it all happened.
    Sacramento Zoo visitors hoping to see Taylor Swift the Bongo calf, are going to have to wait a while. The Bongo exhibit is closed after the calf escaped from her enclosure Sunday.

  • California man exonerated, 2 arrested in 1998 killing

    RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A California man wrongly convicted of murdering his lover two decades ago has been exonerated and new arrests have been made in the case, authorities said Monday.
    Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin announced the arrests of Googie Harris and Joaquin Leal in the 1998 strangling of Terry Cheek, whose body was found on a lake shore. Harris was Cheek’s husband and Leal is Harris’ nephew.

    The company described the cause of the outage as a “recent weather event,” but it planned power outage with the threat of gusty winds on Sunday night. The outage is part of PG&E’s plan to reduce the risk of wildfires.
