• Stockton Pastor Who Volunteered As Police Chaplain Accused Of Child Molestation

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – A Stockton pastor is facing child molestation charges, police say.
    According to the Stockton Police Department, back on May 14 two girls – age 12 and 15 – came forward and reported to police that they had been molested by their church pastor.
    Bruce Echavarre, 57, was arrested several days later.

  • Ponderosa High Junior Killed In Crash On Way To School

    SHINGLE SPRINGS (CBS13) – An El Dorado County high school is mourning the loss of a student who was killed in a crash Wednesday morning.
    The scene was off Ponderosa Road, near Meder Road.
    Authorities say, around 6:05 a.m., a driver lost control of her car and crashed through a fence. The car then crashed into a tree and burst into flames.
    The driver was killed in the crash. Authorities said it was a student on her way to Ponderosa High School.

  • Nearly 10 Years Later, Father Charged With Murdering Newborn Son

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) – A man already serving time in prison for burglary has been charged in the 2008 death of his newborn son.
    The El Dorado County District Attorney’s office says David Paul DeMartile, Sr. is being charged with murder and child abuse.
    Back in November 2008, DeMartile’s three-week-old son was found responsive. Medics and law enforcement officers responded the home, but the baby was soon pronounced dead.

  • Tower Bridge Construction Starts Monday, Lanes Will Be Closed Until July

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Construction on the Tower Bridge starts Monday, May 28 and will last until mid-July. The Tower Bridge will completely close for a number of days during the construction project.
    Caltrans will inspect and replace parts of the lifting mechanism of the Tower Bridge- which connects Old Sacramento to West Sacramento.

  • Police: Man, 21, Possibly Kidnapped After Home Invasion Robbery In Davis

    DAVIS (CBS13) – Police in Davis are investigating a robbery that ended in a possible kidnapping.
    The incident happened Tuesday night at an apartment along the 500 block of K Street. Davis police say an armed man wearing a mask and blue hoodie walked into an apartment where three other men were inside.
    The suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money, but the other men said they didn’t have any.

  • Stockton Looking For Company To Operate Swenson Golf Course

    STOCKTON (CBS13) – The City of Stockton is looking for an outside company to operate the city-owned Swenson Golf Course.
    Mayor Michael Tubbs announced Tuesday the city would request outside help, but provide no city subsidy.
    Stockton started accepting proposals on its website Tuesday night. The proposals will be viewed in August.

  • Notorious Morada-Area Motel Red-Tagged; 5 People Arrested

    MORADA (CBS13) – A former Morada area motel notorious for blight has been red-tagged by authorities.
    The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office say deputies were recently driving by Ship’s Bell Motel this week and spotted something off – unsafe electrical wires draped over the motel.
    As deputies soon found out, someone had set up their own electrical wiring in the motel.

    BEALE AIR FORCE BASE (CBS13) – The main entrance gate at Beale Air Force Base will be closed indefinitely.
    The military will close the Schneider Gate on May 31st in order to address safety and security concerns. The Facebook post also says the geographic proximity the Schneider Gate has to other gates led to the decision to close it.

    SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento city council slapped a cap on cannabis cultivation businesses during its Tuesday night meeting.

  • Hiker Falls To His Death From Half Dome In Yosemite National Park

    YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (CBS13) – A Yosemite National Park visitor has fallen to their death while hiking the cables section on Half Dome.
    Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the male hiker was climbing the steep stretch of rock on Half Dome with another person during a thunderstorm when he slipped from the cables, according to a statement from the National Parks Service. Rangers arrived on the scene and provided assistance to the second hiker.
