    CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. – Another infamous phone scam is making the rounds again.
    According to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, scammers are posing as attorneys or public defenders and are calling unsuspecting residents.

    OKLAHOMA CITY – A teenager is dead and four other people are injured after a collision just east of Jones.
    Officials say around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, two teenager boys were driving in a pickup truck northbound on Peebly Rd.

    EL RENO, Okla. - A teen age girl kidnapped, and held with a knife a foot and a half long, was driven around central Oklahoma for hours as her abductor tried to have sex with her.

  • Pennsylvania fifth grader with Type 1 diabetes dies after blood sugar drops during sleepover

    NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Friends and family are mourning the loss of a 9-year-old Pennsylvania girl who died after a sleepover last weekend, according to WPXI.
    Fifth grader Sophia Daugherty, who had Type 1 diabetes, suffered a traumatic brain injury after her blood sugar plummeted.
    For several days, doctors worked to save her life. Sophia, whose hypoglycemic attack had caused brain swelling and a herniated brain stem, was pronounced dead at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, according to the New Castle News.

  • California bans plastic straws in full-service restaurants — unless customers request one

    (CNN) – California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Thursday that bans full-service restaurants in the state from handing out single-use plastic straws to customers — unless they ask for one.
    This makes California the first state to ban restaurants from automatically providing plastic straws. Some cities have already taken the step; Seattle also banned the use of plastic utensils.

    DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Three men are facing charges after two young children, who were supposed to be in their care, were found wandering in the street in North Carolina's Davidson County.
    Their uncle, Austin Sloop, was charged with child abuse. Police said they found the men unconscious and noticeably impaired.

    OKLAHOMA CITY – Several first-respond crews are on the scene of a two-vehicle, fatal crash at E Britton Rd. and N Peebly Rd.
