    RED OAK (CBSDFW.COM) – Two officers with the Red Oak Police Department will receive awards after saving a baby from choking.
    Officer Michael Fitzgerald was the first to arrive at a home where the baby was conscious and breathing but appeared to have something lodged in his throat.
    That something was a plastic wrapper, according to Red Oak Police PIO Lt. Marc Schroeder.

    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Food and Drug Administration has a new warning and recall about two thyroid medications made by a Chinese manufacturer.
    The FDA has issued a voluntary recall for the medications because of potential problems with an ingredient in them.
    The warning was issued Aug. 9 for Levothyroxine and Liothyronine 15 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg, and 120 mg thyroid tablets.

    NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW/CBS NEWS) – A new report found glyphosate, a weed-killing chemical that some health authorities link to cancer, in a number of popular breakfast foods and cereals marketed to children. The study by the non-profit Environmental Working Group(EWG) discovered trace amounts of the most widely used herbicide in the country in oats, granolas and snack bars. Thirty-one out of 45 tested products had levels higher than what some scientists consider safe for children.

    The diocese says in a statement that Grahmann died Tuesday in San Antonio following a long illness. He was the sixth bishop of the Dallas diocese and served from 1990 to 2007.

    ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The man who killed John Lennon is up for parole again.
    Mark David Chapman is scheduled to go before New York’s parole board next week, in what will be his 10th attempt to win release. A decision is expected within two weeks of the parole hearing.
    The now 63-year-old Chapman is serving 20-years-to-life in the Wende Correctional Facility in western New York. He shot and killed the former Beatle outside his Manhattan apartment on Dec. 8, 1980.
